Episode 2 - Rubi Falls In Love

After the introductions, Hector introduced his best friend, Alejandro (as he walked towards them) to Rubi and it was love at first sight. They shook hands held onto each other hands while looking at each other smiling, oblivious of their surroundings.

Alejandro picked their luggages and they went in search of Maribel. Hector was so anxious that he literilly ran to where she was waiting. She stood up as he approached. This was the first time they were seeing face to face. Their eyes radiated so much love for each other and they embraced. Hector introduced his best friend, Alejandro to Maribel. Maribel was no doubt happy to see Hector but it seems she is afraid of something that it showed. Alejandro asked Rubi to come with him so that the love birds can have some privacy. Rubi knew the cause of Maribel's anxiety and she went to her and whispered that she should tell Hector the truth before following Alejandro.

She opened up and asked Hector to forgive her. He was surprised to hear that she was disabled in one leg but he told her that it was ok, comforting her that it didn't change anything.

Arturo, Maribel's father was not in consonance with her relationship with Hector. He simply didn't trust the young New York city boy with his innocent daughter but she assured him that he was the love of her life.

Hector and alejandro were invited to Maribel’s house for dinner, an opportunity to meet her father.

Maribel invited her best friend, Rubi and gave her one of her best dinner dresses so that she could be presentable. Rubi looked simply stunning in that dress.

When Alejandro and Hector arrived, it was Rubi who welcomed them at the door. Alejandro was stunned speechless at how gorgeous she looked.

Rubi, Episode 1 - Hector Arrives Mexico

Rubi came from a humble background and so lived in a poor neighbourhood. She had always despised her status and vowed to use her beauty to change her status completely. She attends a private university courtesy of a scholarship and support from her working sister who had the responsibility of maintaining the home and Rubi’s education.

In her quest to be wealthy, Rubi befriended a wealthy girl named Maribel in school. Maribel is a sweet, honest and kind-hearted rich girl. She is slightly disabled in one leg as a result of an accident. This made her social life very boring and she had no friends. She had come to love Rubi like a sister, so she took her to her home - a Mansion . Rubi became very envious when she saw the affluence that surrounded Maribel; this was what she had always wanted for herself.

Rubi was overcome by jealousy. She flirted with Maribel’s and was rude to Maribel’s aunt, Pancha. She was so cunning that neither Maribel or her father noticed but Pancha wasn’t fooled, she read Rubi like a book and knew that her friendship with Maribel was not sincere.

Maribel took Rubi to her bedroom and confided in her about her internet boyfriend, Hector, who lived in New York. His parents were dead, so his god-father had been managing his inheritance which has grown, making him a rich man. She showed Rubi a photograph of Hector, he was a very handsome young man. This was the kind of man Rubi wanted for herself.

He had sent a necklace to Maribel to confirm to her that he would be in Mexico to see her in a few days; this excited her to no end. Rubi then asked if she had told Hector about her disability. She told Rubi that she tried but never had the courage to do so because she was afraid of losing him. Rubi was angry at her friend’s response. (what’s her business anyway?)

Rubi glanced with longing at Maribel’s wardrobe, filled with clothes and jewelries and Maribel, being a generous person, she gave Rubi clothes and jewelries for keeps.

When Rubi got home she bemoaned her fate to her mother and sister. She was jealous and angry that despite her beauty, she had nothing while Maribel had everything. She promised herself that she was going to escape from poverty, whatever it takes.

Hector’s boss wanted him to stay in New York but he had made up his mind to settled in Mexico so that he could be with the love of his life – Maribel. He told Alejandro as he packed, the he could not wait to be with her and that he had longed for the day that he would take her to dinner and dance with her.

On the day Hector was to arrive in Mexico, Rubi accompanied Maribel to the airport to welcome Hector. She was a knock-out, dressed in a stunning, short dress that Maribel gave her. Maribel stayed in the airport lobby while Rubi when to welcome Hector. As he came down the stairs, she kissed him on his cheeks and said “don’t you remember me?”

Episode 46 - Ugly Betty Worries Armando

Mario finally found Catalina. She tried to tell him where she was going to seat his people, but Mario took her by the hand, led her outside, and told her how special it was that they’re holding hands. Catalina withdrew her hand and told him Hugo said that he was so fertile that he could get women pregnant by merely holding their hands, by osmosis. Mario rolled his eyes and his mind started to wander, so Catalina asked him what the problem was with the word pregnancy.

Back at Eco Moda, a courier from the lab dropped off the test results. Aura María immediately told Freddy to take them up to Bertha. Freddy went upstairs and handed Bertha the manila envelope containing the contracts as well as the envelope from the lab. Just as Bertha was about to open the envelope from the lab, Gutierrez came out of his office asking for the contracts and notices the lab envelope also addressed to him so he picked it up and walked back inside his office. Bertha and Sofía didn’t know how they were going to get it back.

Jenny insisted that she accompanies Inesita to the hotel to take the clothes but Inestita told her it was out of the question. Freddy walked in and did an Hugo impression, and Inesita warned him to be careful. Freddy became manly immediately and Inesita left laughing. Since Jenny was wearing a snakeskin vest, Freddy told her, "How are you, my favorite anaconda? As I would die suffocated by your body. "Geez, he poured it on thick, LOL! Jenny told Freddy that she had resigned to the fact that she would never model, but Freddy told her not to lose hope, he knew what he was talking about.Back at the hotel dressing room, Claudia Bosch was sneaking drinks from her locker while Hugo was giving last-minute instructions to the models. As Hugo plopped down on to a couch in between two of the models and with another one yet behind him, Claudia walked over to one of the chairs and it was very obvious she was more than a little tipsy.

Marcela arrived at the hotel. Catalina told her that Hugo was waiting for her in the models’ dressing room. As Marcela left to go find Hugo, Mario told Catalina that it wasn’t a good idea for Marcela to go to the dressing room. When Catalina asked why, Mario told her that one of the models went crazy for Armando. Catalina gave him a cynical look and asked in jest if it was his lotion. And Mario answered, “Armando has a maddening lotion.” Hugo noticed Marcela in the dressing room and while Marcela could only look over at Claudia Bosch, Hugo started giving her his litany of complaints, from the lights to the sound system to the technicians. Marcela only listened with half an ear and asked how Claudia was behaving. Hugo answered that she was doing just fine. He told Marcela to get rid of the bad aura while Claudia looked more and more drunk.

Armando finally arrived at the hotel and Catalina told him that Marcela was in the models’ dressing room. Armando immediately asked for a drink (isn’t he drinking a lot lately?). He told Mario that he wanted to talk to him outside, but Catalina stopped him and asked him what the matter was. Armando said that he had gambling his life away on this fashion show and collection. On their way out, Mario and Armando ran into a model. The model ran back to the dressing room and told Claudia that Armando was here.

The model also noticed that Claudia had been drinking and told her she could get in a lot of trouble if she was found out. Out on the terrace, Mario served Armando a drink - Armando told Mario that he serve himself a drink as well ... things are worse than they thought. He told Mario about the card reading and what Mariana said about the man that would change Betty’s life and that she would change his life as well. Mario told him that he couldn’t believe that he was going so overboard over a simple reading of the cards. But Armando said there have been too many coincidences: (1) Betty’s life was changing, right? (Mario nodded); (2) Betty was changing Nicolás’ life because he was now working for Terra Moda (Armando reminded Mario that Betty recommended Nicolás way back when Olarte was fired – and what worried Armando was that Betty was making him part of the appropriation of Eco Moda by Terra Moda and that could make anyone lose his head, it was a lot of money); (3) Mariana told Betty that her greatest desire would come true in the middle of turbulence and that that would change her life – and her life was in fact changing: they’ve handed her a $50 million company of which she was the sole owner, in the middle of the chaos that they were all living. And the worst thing was that those two (referring to Nicolás and Betty) were going to end up in a romance. Armando was convinced.

Mario reminded him that he was basing himself on a mere card reading, but Armando contended that Mariana was always right when it comes to her predictions. When Mario rolled his eyes, Armando agreed to leave the card reading out of things, but the facts were that Beatriz Pinzón Solano was in love with Nicolás Mora, right? Mario nodded his head again. Nicolás met Betty when she was poor, right? Another nod. The guy was not rich, but he’s an economist and he’s familiar with both Terra Moda and Eco Moda. How about if he were to turn Betty against them? Mario answered that a woman as ugly as Betty would probably sell her soul to the devil in order to catch a husband. And then Armando posed the critical question, “What are we going to do so that Nicolás won’t turn Betty against us?” Mario’s answer was: "You will touch compete with Nicolas Mora. You will love to play Betty. Armando's reaction was a stunned "what?"

Episode 45 - The Predictions about Ugly Betty

Bertha asked Armando if he would be going to lunch, but Armando told her that he wanted to finish this business once and for all. Bertha re-narrated the story and told Armando that Mariana gave Betty a second card reading and this time she told her that there would be turbulent times ahead in both her personal and professional life because those two aspects of her life were greatly intertwined. There would be great problems but also great satisfactions. Mariana went on to say that it was very confusing because a dream would be realized for Betty in the midst of a storm. Sofía became worried when she heard that there would be hard times ahead because she thought that would certainly mean Eco Moda. Unless, Bertha piped in, Betty had a love interest at Eco Moda. Betty finally told them that her love life was already determined when she was born. But Mariana insisted that there would be great change to Betty’s personal life, a dream would come true. Betty explained that she and Nicolás were not dating but that he may appear related to her professional life because he was forming a corporation and she was helping him out. The flashback ends and Armando asked Bertha point blank about Nicolás forming a corporation, but Bertha couldn’t clear this up.

Armando changed the subject and now wanted to know whether in fact Nicolás was Betty’s boyfriend, but Bertha explained that it was only her platonic love interest and no matter what Betty did. Bertha went on to tell an Armando who was on the edge of his chair about the time that the Cartel went out for a drink and Betty said she wouldn’t dare to bother Nicolás because he had lots of dates. Bertha’s opinion was that Betty knew that Nicolás was an impossible dream, but since the cards said things were going to change, then maybe things would get better for Betty. After all, she was very intelligent and nice, but she was a bit ugly and she would have to win the lottery. Armando just rolled his eyes in response.

Armando asked Bertha how reliable Mariana’s predictions were, and she told him that she predicted that Armando would be the new president of Eco Moda, that Mireya (his former secretary) would leave, but at other times she’s been way off ... for example, she told also told them that Eco Moda would go through hard and turbulent times, but nothing like this has happened yet, Armando did an “of course not” gesture with his face and thanked Bertha for all of the information. He reminded Bertha that this should stay between the two of them, he wouldn’t want Betty thinking that he was questioning her private life. Bertha totally agreed because if Betty knew she would kill her.

As Bertha left, Armando said told himself that Mariana’s predictions have all been on the ball. At El Corrientazo, all of the Cartel had ordered chicken for lunch – they were going to diet right along with Bertha so as not to tempt her, but they were not happy. When Bertha walked in, she followed a tray of food that was set down at another table and sat right down with the two people there. Sandra had to go and get her. Bertha asked why everyone was having the same thing for lunch and Inesita explained that they were doing this in solidarity with her diet. Bertha told them she’s got really great news ... this afternoon the lab was bringing Patricia’s test results including the pregnancy test.

Betty interrupted everyone’s joy and asked Bertha what she talked to Armando about and Bertha told her that it was about her platonic love, Nicolás Mora. Betty then had to explain that Nicolás called the office and Bertha took the call and told her it was Nicolás right in front of Don Armando. Mariana told her that everything that came out in the cards was now coming true. But Betty refused to go along with this line of thinking (after all, she was really in love with Armando) and continued to question Bertha. Bertha just said that she told Don Armando that she and Nicolás were friends. The girls wanted to know why it would bother Betty if Don Armando found out about Nicolás and Betty responded that it was her private life and Don Armando didn’t need to know about it ... what they talked among them in the Cartel should stay between them. Bertha stuck to her story about what she told Armando and added that he wouldn’t care if Betty was in love or not, he stayed back at the office as if he didn’t have a care in the world.

However, Armando was really very worried and called Mario at the hotel. Armando told Mario that Betty was deeply in love with Nicolás Mora and he didn’t even realize she was alive. Armando brought up the point that now that Betty had 50 million dollars in her pocket maybe she would begin to appear more attractive to Nicolás, and not only that, but a dream was about to come true for Betty. Mario just looked puzzled at the phone upon hearing this last statement and asked Armando how much he had had to drink. Armando told him that he would take care of a couple of things and he would meet him at the hotel to further discuss this matter. After Mario hung up, he asked Freddy, who had just arrived and was staring in trance at the models, if he had seen Catalina. Freddy told him that she was cooking somewhere and Mario left gave Freddy a “you’re hopeless look.” Hugo noticed Freddy staring at the models and asked him what he was doing there. Freddy started to give Hugo pointers on the choreography, but Hugo cut him off quickly and Freddy told him he was only there to have the models sign the contracts papers. Hugo sent him off to see Inesita so that they can take care of the paperwork quickly.

But since Freddy was the charmer, he walked into the models’ dressing room and started introducing himself right and left, but they didn’t pay him any attention until he told them he had the contracts paper – then they all flocked to him. When he got to Claudia Bosch’s contract, he had to take it over to her because she was standing by her locker. When Claudia went to look for a pen in her locker to sign the contract, she accidentally dropped a small bottle of liquor on the floor and Freddy remarked; “your perfume a little heavy?” Claudia ignored him and just asked when Armando would get to the hotel.

Back at El Corrientazo, the Cartel was on their way out. Bertha thanked everyone for their solidarity and told them she was really full from her lunch, how about them? They told her that they are full as well, and when Bertha walked away to the bathroom, they actually said to each other that they are really still very hungry. Aura María said the diet might come in handy and Betty replied that maybe in Aura María’s case it would, but when it comes to Betty, it didn’t matter if she was fat or skinny, if she ate chicken or pork, because no one would notice (then she laughed her nerdy laughter). As Inesita was reminding everyone that they have to help Bertha out so she won’t break her diet, the cook yelled from the kitchen, "Get this woman out of here! Get her out please, she is eating everything! "And, needless to say, it was Bertha who had invaded the kitchen - she didn't go to the bathroom after all!

The Cartel went to pull her out and she came out with her hands full of food, nibbling on stuff. They took the food out of her hands but Sofía insisted on checking her purse and there she found a porkchop, potatoes, sweet plaintains, green plaintains and even silverware! As the Cartel hauled Bertha out of El Corrientazo, Inesita paid the bill.

Episode 44 - Armando Learns More About Ugly Betty

Marcela was in the lobby and when she saw Armando, she started yelling that she asked Betty to pay the bills for the show and she didn’t. Armando pointed out that she did and showed her the checks. Marcela said she asked Betty to give her cash (which was a big fat lie). Marcela stormed into Betty’s office and yelled that she asked for cash. Betty told her that she didn’t but that she would run down and get the cash for her. (Marcela was in a foul mood throughout this episode)Betty came back with the money and asked Marcela to sign for it. Marcela got angry and asked if Betty didn’t trust her. Armando told Marcela it was just procedure but Marcela left the office without signing for it.

Later, Betty was not at her desk when her phone started ringing. Bertha went into Armando’s office to leave him the contracts for the models. Armando asked Bertha to answer the phone. Bertha answered and it is Nicolas. She was all excited. When Betty walked into Armando’s office Bertha told her that her true love Nicolas called. Armando looked shocked. Betty handed Armando some papers and took Bertha out of the office. She told Bertha not to say that in front of Armando, she reminded Bertha that Nicolas was not even her boyfriend and that she wanted to keep her intimate life private.

Armando was with Mario and he told him about Betty’s boyfriend. Mario made some comments about who would possibly be interested in Betty. Armando looked horrified at the idea. He couldn’t believe that Betty didn’t tell him.Later Armando asked Betty and she told him that the cartel made up the story about Nicolas being her boyfriend and Armando was relieved.Armando went to Mario’s office and told him the good news. Mario was surprised at how happy Armando was, and suggested that it was personal. Armando laughed and said he was happy because that was one thing less to worry about. Mario told him that they still needed to find out who this Nicolas was.

The cartel decided to go to the bathroom to wait for Inesita. She arrived and they started talking about going to the show. Patricia came in and laughed at them. Sandra said that Patricia couldn’t stop them from going because someone much superior had already permitted them to go. Patricia asked who and they said Betty. Betty then repeated in her presence that they could go. Patricia started screaming for Marcela. Marcela came and asked what was going on. Patricia asked her if all the employees will be attending the show. Marcela said no. Patricia told her that Betty was inviting the entire cartel. Marcela looked at Betty and told her no, she told her to stop acting like she was the owner of this company, and to remember who the owner was. Betty had this wicked smile on her face. Marcela said the only one who would be going to the show was Inesita. And Patricia said and Inesita couldn’t come out from behind the scenes, Inesita replied “don’t worry I don’t intend to”. Marcela and Patricia then left.

In the showroom the models were getting ready. Claudia walked in and Hugo told her that he had received some complaints about her and he wanted her to be on her best behavior. Claudia said ok. She went to her locker and dropped a small liquor bottle. She quickly picked it up and made sure no one saw her and put it away.

Bertha went into Armando’s office to ask for the contracts and Armando started asking her what she knew about Betty and Nicolas. Bertha started telling him everything, and how angry Betty got when Bertha said it in front of him. Bertha started laughing and said she never guessed Armando would like gossip so much. Armando asked her to tell him everything.Bertha told Armando all of the details of the card reading she did for Betty at El Corrientazo a few months ago ... that a very important man had come out with whom she was in love and that man was fundamental to her life – the relationship was going to be very intense and would change her life as well as his. While Armando listened raptly, Bertha flashed back to that day at El Corrientazo and told Armando that Betty didn’t want to say who this man was, so they started pressuring her and she finally told them that there was in fact a man that she liked very much ... that she went to school with him, that women find him very attractive, that he was very strong and people were scared of him, that he was not a millionaire but had money and he drove a big car ... his name was Nicolás Mora. Betty went on to tell El Cartel that nothing had happened between Nicolás and herself, but Mariana assured her that something was going to happen in the future and it would change both their lives.

Armando wanted to find out what Mariana meant when she said that this relationship would change both the lives of Betty and Nicolás. Bertha interrupted and asked Armando whether he believed in card readings, and Armando got up from behind his desk and told her that that was not important, that the important thing was that she was telling him some gossip and he wanted the whole story ... how was this going to change their lives? Bertha continued the story – Mariana told Betty that this relationship might not change her life for good, but it would be very important in her life. Armando was still not clear on what Mariana meant and Bertha told him that it seemed that everything was pending ... it was not resolved yet.

Armando wanted to question her more but Gutierrez stormed into the office to get the contracts for the models. Gutierrez broke into English Language and Armando very annoyed, warned him to stop speaking English because his English sounded more like Russian, LOL! Bertha left the office to hand Freddy the contracts so he could take them over to the hotel for the models to sign. Freddy was thrilled at the prospect of this mission, handed Bertha the envelope while he sprayed some Mouth in his mouth and on his hair and takes out a comb and a mirror to touch himself up.

As Freddy was about getting on the elevator, Marcela asked him where he had been and Patricia interjected that he now had a girlfriend in the showroom, Jenny. Marcela told Freddy that she had an errand for him to run - she needed him to hand some money over to Catalina Angel at the hotel.

In the meantime, the Cartel was getting ready to leave for lunch and Bertha was on the phone with the lab trying to get the results of Patricia’s blood tests. The Cartel told Bertha that they would wait for her at El Corrientazo, but before leaving Betty asked her why she was going to the Presidency, but fortunately El Cartel diverted her attention and they went off to lunch. While Patricia looked on suspiciously, Bertha confirmed with the lab that she would have the results today.

Armando came back out to Bertha’s desk and asked Bertha to come back to his office to finish with the gossip. Patricia was even more suspicious upon seeing this.

Episode 43 - Ugly Betty's Loyalty Questioned

Marcela stormed into Armando's office and clapped while telling him Bravo! Very sarcastically. She congratulated him for his ability to tell lies, and also for having an assistant that was just as talented as he was at covering them up. Betty, who came in without Marcela noticing, heard everything Marcela was saying to Armando. Marcela told Armando that she couldn't prove what happened, but swore to him that Claudia would never again work at EcoModa. She then told ugly Betty that she wasn't Armando's assistant - she was his matchmaker. She told her to remember that her salary was paid by the Valencias, while Betty was helping Armando to get away with his infidelities. Armando screamed Marcela! He was actually furious at the way that Marcela was speaking to Betty. He told her to stop treating Betty like that. Betty was very nervous but told Marcela that she just took care of her boss. Marcela grabbed her arm and threatened her before storming out of the office.

Mario came in to ask whether Claudia was gone, and Armando told him that she was still a problem. He said that Betty once again saved his butt and told him everything that happened. Mario reminded him not to let anyone insult ugly Betty. Armando told him of course, since Betty was his guardian angel. Mario made one of his insensitive comments about ugly Betty's looks.
The phone rang and Armando asked Betty to answer it. It was Nicolás. Betty told him that she could talk right now. Mario started listening in on the conversation and told Armando that apparently someone outside the three of them (Mario, Betty, and Armando) knew about the embargo. Mario asked Armando if he wasn't worried about Nicolás's involvement, whether he had actually met him in person. Armando told him that he hadn't, and Mario told him that he didn't want this guy to mess things up. Again he asked Armando about this guy who was so close to Betty. Armando told him that he trusts Betty completely. Mario insisted, that it was fine that he trust Betty blindly, but who was this man? He reminded him that Betty didn't have any money and would never have dreamt having all that money within reach.

Mario kept harping on. Armando looked worried about the tone of Mario's comments and asked him what he wanted him to do. Betty has stood by him through thick and thin and proved her loyalty over and over? It was impossible that she would betray him. Armando asked him to show some kindness. But Mario kept bugging him and said that Nicolás could influence Betty, that he needed to be careful because they were talking about a lot of money. Armando couldn't believe his ears, he told Mario that he had met Betty's family and they were honest, decent people. Marcela walked in again and told Armando that she was on her way to her apartment. She kept coming onto him about Claudia, and that he better not try anything after her departure. Armando again played hurt. She told him that he had to be respectful of her and he told her that he didn't appreciate it when she treated him this way. She told him that he must find a way to get rid of Claudia. That she cannot model during the fashion show tomorrow night. She never wanted to see her again! Mario asked Armando if he was going to fire Claudia and he responded that it was impossible. Everything was ready for the fashion show. Mario told him that he understood his dilemma -- Armando answered that it was both their problem!

Freddy was chatting with Jenny and Marcela stalked past. He told her that he had tried to help her, but to know avail. Aura Maria overheard him tell her that she owed him a lot, how nice that he believed in her. “El cheque” honked for her and she left, kissing Freddy on the cheek. Aura Maria snapped him out of his day-dream and reminded him that she lives with someone. “So, I have to live my dream”, said Fred, singing and dancing as he moved away.

Betty entered Armando’s office, handed some checks and was on her way out. “Betty, sit please. Betty, you swore to me that all this would only stay amongst the three of us. That’s not true. It seems that Nícolas knows everything. That was not what we agreed upon” said Amando. “If I can explain”, started Betty. Why! He shouted. If I can explain, said Betty and she told him about Nícolas being a true, dear friend from the university. I needed him to accomplish many of the things that needed to be done. He came with me to see Dr. Sanchez because we met in an irregular type of place. My father would kill me if I didn’t go with him. So, he knows everything asked Mario. He’s an ally, explained Betty, and he understands everything. I couldn’t have done these things without his help. I’d put my hand in the fire for him. “Why didn’t you tell me this before?” asked Armando. I’ve seen you so upset that I didn’t want to upset you further. “Are you hiding anything else?” “No, how could it occur to you? I swear on my father and mother, said Betty. Fine, don’t keep anything else from me again replied Amando and with that he dismissed her and turned to Mario. Well, what do you think? We have no choice, I guess, replied Mario. They were committed now.

Marcela arrived at Ecomoda and demanded that Armando either fire the model or ugly Betty.Armando talked with Hugo and tried to get him to fire Claudia. Hugo got upset and said no. Hugo said that he couldn’t fire a girl just because Armando got involved with her and now she was making his life difficult. Armando told Hugo that he hadn’t done anything with Claudia. Hugo laughed and said yeah right, if a woman was after you in that way it was because you gave her something to run after.

Marcela asked Armando if he was able to fire Claudia and he told her that Hugo refused to fire her. Marcela then asked for Betty’s head. Armando said that he couldn’t fire Betty. Marcela was furious and said one of their heads had to roll.

Betty arrived at the office 15 minutes late. Armando was angry with her for being late. Betty explained that there was a problem with the bus and reminded him that she was always very punctual, unlike the others. Betty glanced towards Patty’s desk. Armando started yelling like a mad man asking where Patty was. Marcela came out of her office and asked him why he was yelling he told her and Marcela looked annoyed.

Later Patricia showed up and Marcela saw her. Marcela warned her not to come in late again. Patty told her she over slept. Marcela didn’t believe that Patty just said she over slept like it was nothing. She got mad at Patty. She told Patty that she couldn’t have her coming in late because she was trying to get Betty fired and if she came in late Armando would fire Patty as well. Patty got all excited to hear that she was trying to fire Betty. Then Patty said Armando couldn’t fire her because she was pregnant and it was illegal to fire a pregnant woman. The cartels heard Patty saying this and ask Bertha when the test results would be in. Bertha told them that afternoon. They couldn’t wait!

Episode 42 - Ugly Betty caught in a Web

While waiting for Armando, Marcela started discussing with Patricia. Armando, Mario, and Betty exited the elevator on their way to Armando's office. Claudia approached Armando, who in a panic told Mario and Betty that Claudia is his SECOND problem (the first one being the TerraModa/EcoModa issue) and it would be a disaster if Marcela found out about Claudia.

Freddy wanted to talk to Armando about the fashion show, without directly telling him that Jenny should be one of the models, and Armando told him that he didn't have time to talk to him. Freddy, who just didn't get it, kept talking to Armando and actually made the suggestion about Jenny. Armando told him to forget about it, that Hugo was the one who made those kinds of decisions, and that he couldn't replace any of the models with Jenny. When Jenny noticed that Freddy had talked to Armando, she went after him to find out what he said.

Armando started drinking and told Mario that he didn't know if the Board meeting turned our well or badly, that he felt that everything was a disaster. Mario was speechless as he watched Armando drink the whiskey in one gulp and reminded him that he needed to be clear-headed. Armando told him how awful he felt because his father congratulated him for how well things seemed to be going at EcoModa, knowing full well that it was on the verge of disaster. That at this very moment, neither the Mendozas nor the Valencias owned EcoModa... but he swore that he'll get it back. Mario told him to cheer up and to be careful about how much he drank and left. Armando told himself that he can handle his alcohol just fine.

Armando asked Betty to give him his cell phone and PDA. Betty reminded him that he left them behind in the factory and she'll go get them for him. As she exited the office, she ran into Claudia, who told Armando that they have to talk and pushed Betty out the door. Armando begged her to leave him alone. She told him that she wanted him. Betty didn't think that it is smart to leave Armando alone with Claudia, but went on her way to get his cell phone and PDA anyway.

On her way, she ran into Marcela who was on her way to Patricia's desk and asked if Armando was in his office. Betty tried to distract Marcela and offered to give Armando the paperwork that Marcela had for him, but Marcela told her that she wanted to give them to him herself and that she also wanted to talk to him. Betty lied and said that Armando was with Hugo and Marcela was on her way to find him. Betty stood by Armando's door and did her best to avoid anyone going in or out of the office. In the meantime, Armando threatened Claudia and told her to leave at once or he'll have to call security. She dared him to do it because then Marcela would want to know what she was doing with him! That it would be best for him to agree to give her a little kiss... They hear a noise at the door... It was Betty trying to go in the office. Claudia told her to leave them alone and planted a big wet one on Armando.

Hugo told Marcela that Armando hadn't been by his studio. Betty knew that time was running out before Marcela came looking for Armando. Armando's door was still locked and Claudia had Armando in a lip-lock. Betty couldn't stand it any more. She went into the office through the Board room -- while Patricia watched her with a mixture of confusion and piqued curiosity.

Someone was knocking at Armando's door which scared the hell out of him. It was Marcela, who wanted to know why the door was locked. Betty arrived at the same time and tackled Claudia just like an American football linebacker would, tore her away from Armando and took her to her office. Marcela asked Armando why the door was locked and he, playing hurt, told her that he was very busy and didn't want anyone to interrupt him. Marcela wasn't buying his story and told him that he had to check the sales figures immediately, while she waited for him to do it. He, without even a glance at the stuff, told her that everything looked great. She then suddenly opened the door to Betty's office and was surprised to see that only Betty was there. She had expected to find Claudia hiding there. Claudia was actually hiding behind some cabinets out of Marcela's range of vision. She told Betty that she needed the money for the fashion show expenses, looked around the office again, looked behind the door, and was upset to find nothing incriminating. She left in a huff and puff; she knew they're playing tricks on her.

Armando went into Betty's office, asked where Claudia was hiding, grabbed her by the hair, and kicked her out. Outside, Marcela was asking Patricia if she had seen Claudia since she was nowhere to be found. She knew she had to be nearby. At the same time, Betty was with Claudia, trying to get her as far away from Armando's office as possible - sneaking out through Mario's office. Claudia was now insisting on apologizing to Armando. Betty told her that this was impossible and told her to stay in Mario's office. Once Betty left, Claudia walked towards the secretaries' desks. Patricia asked what she wanted and Claudia said that she didn't need anything. Armando was dying of fear in his office and asked Betty why women were so crazy. Betty told him that HE drove them crazy! Armando, slightly embarrassed, asked her if she got him his cell phone and PDA. She finally went on her merry way to get them.

Marcela told Patricia that she hadn't seen Claudia anywhere and Patricia told her not to worry, she just saw her coming out of Mario's office. Marcela couldn't believe this. Patricia told her that Claudia had been hiding in Betty's office. When Marcela finally saw Claudia, she asked her what she was doing. Claudia told her she was taking a stroll. Marcela told Patricia about Armando's door being locked and both agree that something was going on. Patricia stoked the embers and Marcela left in a hurry to confront Armando.

The 7th Anniversary of September 11 Bombing

On the 11th of September, 2001, the world witnessed the destruction of the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York. Over 2,700 people lost their lives including 300 Firefighters and Police personnel who got trapped inside after attempting to rescue people.

Yesterday marked the 7th Memorial Anniversary. I just imagined the trauma the families of the victims must have gone through these past 7 years.

Every year I watch the memorial service and uptil now I couldn't help but cry each time. Regardless of the fact that I did not know any of the victims, it saddens me a great deal each year.

Even Obama and McCann headlocked in the presidential campaigns, came together as a family, putting politics aside and suspending campaigns television advert in honour of the dead.

I read that the New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg just launched a programme to reach out to New Yorkers who still suffer health problems as a result of the terrorist attacks. The programme is part of a 5- million-dollar campaign put together to provide free health care service to those requiring help.

The memorial was held at Ground Zero, the original site of the twin towers. The names of victims were read by their families as usual and it was like re-opening wounds

My heart went out to the families of the victims.

All to all those who lost a Husband, Wife, Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Daughter or Son; I identify with your grief and I pray to God to strengthen and comfort you.

Episode 41 - Ecomoda in Ugly Betty's Hands

The Cuartel went to El Corrientazo for lunch and Sofía told them that Freddy was on his way to get the blood test results for Patricia's pregnancy test. Inesita told them that she could not believe that they were doing this just to prove that Patricia was lying. Aura María told her that if she didn't want to be a part of it, she should just cover her ear. Bertha started to order a feast for lunch but her friends wouldn't let her. Inesita commented that what they're doing, regarding Patricia, wasn't ethical. Sandra said that if Patricia was pregnant, they wouldn’t say a word. But if she was not pregnant, they would tell Mario the truth and then everyone would know what was ethical and what was unethical.

Back in the boardroom, Patricia was taking the lunch orders and collecting the menus from everyone. She was standing by Mario and asked him to help her. It was now time for Mario to daydream. She handed him a baby and told him to help her because she was working. The baby's name was Marito. Armando told her that they were in the middle of a meeting. Patricia said that the baby was not only hers, Mario's also and asked him to help her feed him a bottle while she took the lunch orders. Mario was trying to do everything and anything to make the baby quiet, but all he did was cry. Patricia told him not to let the baby cry (Mario's face was hysterical). Mario finally came out of his trance and gave Patricia his lunch order. She, very harshly, thanked him very much for his "help."

Hugo finally made his way to the meeting and asked Patricia to get him a salad because he had gained too much weight and if he didn't lose weight he was going to end up a "spinster." He asked Daniel what he thought and Daniel said that he looked better when he was heavy. Hugo wanted to talk about the new collection, but was distracted and asked Catalina how she managed to stay so graceful. She told him that it was an ongoing battle and that she just tries to eat moderately. In addition, she said that for many people, overeating was a psychological issue.

And speaking of the battle of the bulge, Bertha was watching her friends have the lunch that she wished she could have ordered. Mariana said that she felt awkward with Bertha staring at her and tried to give her part of her lunch. Bertha wanted to eat Sandra's leftovers. Inestia asked the waiter to clear the plates of those who are through eating to avoid tempting Bertha. Bertha screamed that no one was noticing that she was starving! Aura María said that it was best to leave.

The Cuartel was back at EcoModa and Bertha said that she couldn't stand it anymore, when they saw Patricia looking at herself in the mirror. Sofía told Bertha to think of that image any time she feels she can't go on with her diet. Bertha went to the bathroom. The Cuartel kept talking about Bertha and Sandra said that they have to support her and go on a diet with her.

Betty caught up with Sánchez and took them all over EcoModa. Sánchez told her that all of this could one day be hers...

Hugo and the models are rehearsing for the fashion show while the board members watched. Claudia Bosch winked at Armando and Marcela noticed. Patricia, who was sitting next to Marcela, was there to regale her with the story about Armando talking to Claudia prior to the rehearsal. Marcela asked Patricia for the name of the model who was being so friendly with Armando. After the rehearsal, Margarita and Roberto congratulated Hugo on his designs and the quality of the fabrics he used. Hugo, very sarcastically, commented that everything would turn out fine as long as no one tricked him again like Armando did with the past collection. Armando, who was so mad at the comment, told Hugo that the fabric for the collection would be exactly the same as what the models would wear during the fashion show. Marcela tried to make sure that the conversation between Hugo and Armando didn't turn into a major fight. After everyone left, Marcela confronted Armando and asked him about Claudia's behaviour. He, playing coy and innocent, asked her how she can even think that anything was going on! She warned him that he was not to get involved with any of the models.

Betty was showing Sánchez and the guy from the court the materials and designs for the upcoming collection. The other guy has a name, thankfully -- Dr. Moreno. Sánchez and Moreno thought that the clothes would be included in the lien but Betty said that was impossible. She was very worried and warned them that they need to be extremely careful that Daniel or Roberto don't overhear what they were talking about. Roberto congratulated Armando for the new collection and everyone got ready to leave.

Sandra asked Aura María to get her some catalogues for the fashion show. Dr. Sánchez, on his way out the door, noticed Sandra and was immediately smitten with her. He walked with her to the elevator and looked at her as if she were a goddess. He told Dr. Moreno that his heart was beating madly and that he would marry Sandra. Dr. Moreno told him to think about it -- the woman was twice as tall as he was! That it would be best for him to keep his mind on his work, or perhaps set his sights on Betty, who was on her way to becoming a rich woman, and with all that money even she can be thought of as a beautiful woman. They go to Hugo's workshop and decide there was nothing to be inventoried there. They then ran smack into the area where the models were changing and Hugo told them to leave. Betty made sure that everything was okay and led them away.

Roberto, Margarita, Daniel and Catalina were on their way out when they ran into Sánchez and Moreno... who in their infinite wisdom (NOT!!) decide right there and then to ask Armando to sign the lien paperwork. Roberto wanted to know what was going on, and Betty very ably averted a major disaster by explaining that the gentlemen have finished with their inventory and Armando just needed to okay their report. Daniel, who didn't believe for a minute the inventory story, asked Sánchez for his business card. After everyone left, Armando made sure that he was signed the lien papers and looked them over. Sánchez gave him his business card and offered his services to him! After they finally left, Armando gave Betty the paperwork and pleaded her to stash them away in a safe place -- and told her that EcoModa was now in her hands.

Episode 40 - Ugly Betty Survive Probe Meeting

Don Hermes walked in on Nicolás resting on Betty's bed, and complained that while he was working, Nicolás was sleeping. Nicolás answered that he was not sleeping, he was meditating. Don Hermes wanted to know why Nicolás was acting so strangely since he received the phone call from Sánchez and why he said something about "holding his horses." Nicolás answered that he was just repeating a line from a movie he saw when he was a kid. Don Hermes told him to stop saying insane stuff and Nicolás responded that a messenger was asking for money and they don't have funds to cover the request. Don Hermes asked if Dr. Sánchez was that someone and Nicolás answered that he must be working as a messenger since so many attorneys were out of work.

Bertha asked Freddy to go get Patricia's blood work results at the lab.

Armando explained to Mario about how Betty combined the losses and profits from the past two collections into a doctored report to present to the Board. Roberto and Margarita arrived at EcoModa... Margarita asked Aura María if she was still single and looking for the man of her dreams. Marcela helpfully stated that Aura María was looking very hard.

In the meantime, Armando and Mario were singing praises of Betty's latest creative accounting, the phone started ringing again. Mario finally got fed up at the incessant ringing of the phone and told Armando to answer it. Armando answered and of course it was Nicolás again. Nicolás again told him that it was urgent that he spoke with Betty. Armando asked if the urgency involved the death of Betty's parents. Nicolás answered no. Betty arrived and Armando complained about Nicolás' calls. Nicolás complained to Betty about having to make so many calls from his cell phone. Betty told him that she didn't have time to chat -- but Nicolás told her about the lien and Sánchez' impending arrival at EcoModa... Armando found out that his parents were on their way AND Betty told him about the lien. You could guess Armando's reaction to the news!

Daniel arrived and was greeted by a lollipop sucking Wilson. Right on Daniel's heels we see Sánchez and some other guy (from the court). Daniel greeted everyone and asked Catalina if she was going to once again be in charge of the publicity for the fashion show and told her he was surprised that she was back since he thought she had a reputation to protect. Catalina cut him off by saying that she believed in what Armando was trying to accomplish.

Sánchez and co. ran into Armando and Betty as they got off the elevator on the first floor. Armando told them that they MUST be as discreet as possible and they responded that they would of course be. Sánchez was surprised to realize that Betty worked at EcoModa and asked her why she hadn't mentioned this to him before. She said that she had been working for EcoModa for a while and that she had lent money to Armando which had never been paid back to her. She also said that he should go ahead with the process while she tried to reach an agreement with Armando. Betty escorted Sánchez and the other guy to production and told the employees that they were from an insurance company and need to do an inventory of the equipment, and asked for their full cooperation. Sánchez told the other guy that Betty was a good person. The other guy thought the whole situation was a bit strange. Sánchez agreed, but that it was of no concern to him. Sánchez handed his coat to one of the seamstresses so that she'll MEND IT for him!

At the board meeting, Roberto wanted to know who Sánchez and his companion were. Armando gave him the story about them being from an insurance company. Daniel said that the only insurance the company needed was against Armando destroying it. Roberto told Daniel to shut up, that he was not there to listen to that kind of talk.

Wilson told Aura María that the two gentlemen were at EcoModa to place a lien on the company. Betty overheared this and SCREAMED at him to come talk to her. She asked him if he ever had the nightmare where someone was about to tore his head off and then placed it in a box. He answered that he had and wondered why Betty wanted to know. She told him that his nightmare would come true if Armando found out what he had been saying to Aura María. She also added that it was all a misunderstanding that had already been cleared up. She then asked Aura María not to say a word to anyone about Wilson's comment.

Betty went to the boardroom and Armando asked her to present the report. Meanwhile, Hugo arrived and Patricia told him that he was wanted in the boardroom. He said that he was in no mood to sit in on a boring meeting and that until "those people" start talking about nice things, he was no longer going to attend their meetings.

Betty explained that once the next collection was launched, the financial situation would again be rosy. Daniel responded that this would only be true if the report she was presenting was not doctored. Roberto told Daniel to stop. Daniel had the last word saying that no matter what, Armando would not be able to meet his goals.

Patricia went into the boardroom with the menus for lunch. Daniel stared at her, looking scared. She gave him a menu and asked him when he was going to acknowledge that her son was his! Daniel told her that this was neither the place nor time to talk about the subject. Patricia didn't let go. She added that she had already had the child's DNA tested and that the kid was definitely HIS!! Then she asked her son, Danielito - the spitting image of Daniel in a business suit and slicked back hair, to come in and show Daniel the papers that proved that he is a Valencia. Daniel didn't want to look at the child or the papers. The boy told him "look, daddy, I am your son."

Roberto told Daniel that those papers proved beyond a doubt that the child was his; Margarita told him that he had to step up to his responsibility and that Patricia did not deserve such treatment from; Marcela told him that Patricia was her best friend and that she'll never forgive him if he didn't live up to his responsibilities. Armando and Betty had very happy expressions on their faces during this whole exchange. Patricia told Daniel not to worry, that what she'll do was make sure that all of Colombia knew the real man behind the title of director of the Economic Resources Board. Of course, this had all been a daydream of Daniel's... However, at the mere sight of Patricia he did started sweating bullets and Roberto asked him if he was alright. Daniel said that there was nothing wrong. Patricia kept giving out the menus while giving Daniel the killer look. Daniel could only blot the sweat from his forehead.

Episode 39 - Ugly Betty Owns Ecomoda

Armando was greeted at his parents' home by stern requests from Daniel and Roberto for an urgent board meeting. Armando did not agree to their demand, using as a reason the company's regulations and statutes - the next meeting was supposed to hold in September.

Margarita and Marcela supported Armando's point of view. They stressed that it would be then that Armando's one year term as President of EcoModa would come to an end and it wouldn't be fair to have a meeting prior to that anniversary. Roberto agreed not have the meeting, but told Armando that he must see a report of the losses incurred from the previous collection, as well as the plans for future growth.

Betty talked to Nicolás about all the problems that was presently beseiging EcoModa and that she must be very careful where she hid the lien papers because if the Mendozas and Valencias ever found out, there would be a major scandal. Betty told Nicolás that they would have a double dose of bad news: first about the lien on the company and worse that it was she who placed the lien and now owned the company. Nicolás told her that if they were to realize the truth about Betty's role, they would have to treat her like a princess. Betty, as always was mocking her own "ugliness," told Nicolás that they would have to treat her as the Princess of the Uglies. Nicolás started commenting about what Betty could do with all the money involved but Betty reminded him that she would NEVER do any such thing or keep the company for herself.The next morning, Patricia went to the lab to have her blood sample tested. Bertha told her friends about the encounter with her husband.

Armando told Betty about the big mess he was now in since Daniel and Roberto were demanding for the reports detailing the losses and projections, but that for now he was thankful that their demand for an urgent board meeting had been put to rest.

Armando asked Betty to prepare a doctored report regarding the previous collection so that the losses would not be as bad as they actually were. Betty, as usual, accepted to cover up for Armando. Bertha called the lab and impersonated Patricia to ask if they could please also do a pregnancy test. The nurse told her that they would and that the results would be ready the next day.

The phone rang at Betty's home and her mother answered it... She looked surprised to hear that someone was asking about TerraModa. Don Hermes looked at her and yelled “yes”, that was the name of the company so she answered TerraModa -- and was once again surprised to be asked about Dr. Mora. It is Dr. Sánchez who wanted to know when he could reach Nicolás. To his inquiry as to who she was, Julia responded that she is Nicolás' "secretary".

Speaking of the devil, Nicolás arrived and Don Hermes gave him the third degree about where he had been, and that the phone was ringing incessantly between 8 am and 6 pm, and that all the calls were for TerraModa and he wanted to know what to do about it. Nicolás apologized and said that he was out running an important errand. He also asked if they noticed any changes in his appearance. He then pointed to his pants and Doña Julia commented about whether his mom finally got around to mending his pants! Nicolás looked to make sure there weren't any ‘problems’ with his pants and then said that the real change was his new cell phone.

Don Hermes wanted to know if TerraModa would be covering his cell phone expenses and Nicolás answered "of course." Nicolás then proceeded to make a phone call from his cell phone - to Betty's house! Doña Julia answered the phone and asked who was calling - Nicolás told her it was him. Don Hermes got mad and told him to turn off the phone and reminded him about how expensive cell phone calls were. He also told him that he was very confused about the large amounts of money in TerraModa's account at Montreal Bank and wanted to know if the bank lent that money to TerraModa. Nicolás played innocent and said that he had no idea since it was a deal between Betty, Armando and the bank.

The phone rang again... It was Dr. Sánchez for Nicolás again. He told him that he was in court and that it looked like the lien on EcoModa's inventory is going forward. Nicolás told him that this could not happen and that he must stop any such action. Sánchez told him that it was too late and that he was only calling him to warn him and to tell him that it would be done in the strictest confidence. He also told him that he was on his way to EcoModa and would keep in touch.

At EcoModa, Betty gave Armando the report for his meeting with the Board. He told her, as usual, that he won't have time to familiarize himself with the information so that she should be ready to discuss it at the meeting. Betty's phone started ringing and Armando told her that it was more important to make copies of the report than answer the phone. Betty left... Since the phone wouldn't stop ringing, Armando picked it up and found himself ear to ear with Nicolás. Armando told him that Betty wasn't there and asked who was calling. Nicolás identified himself and told Armando that it was urgent that he spoke to Betty, that he needed her to call him back as soon as possible at home or on his cell phone. Armando told him that he couldn't be bothered to leave a message for Betty!

Episode 38 - In The Eye of The Storm

Aura María called Sofía to let her know that her husband had arrived to talk to her. Inesita warned Sofía about keeping a clear head. Everyone, including Patricia, the Cartel, Freddy and Efraín, were surprised at the new, calm Sofía.

In the meantime, Roberto asked Marcela how badly affected EcoModa was after the previous collection. She told him that the company could withstand the losses, but that it was best if he talked directly with Armando. Armando and Betty were talking to one of the bank managers, Dr. Contreras, who told them that the bank was going to start a process against EcoModa...

Armando tried to reach an agreement with the bank official, telling him that a very important company had taken over EcoModa and that he'd like to work out a payment agreement. Betty did her song and dance about how EcoModa would be able to meet its outstanding debts; however Dr. Contreras wanted more insurance than that. However, there was nothing else to give since EcoModa was now in the hands of TerraModa. Armando begged him to be discrete and not make a big scandal about what he had just found out -- and assured him that EcoModa would pay as promised. Betty asked Contreras to consider her proposal.

Marcela told Margarita that Armando had been behaving very well these past few days and hadn't been cheating on her, and was right now with ugly Betty -- which helped her to be at ease. Daniel arrived to say hello to Armando's parents.

Betty and Armando also arrived and Armando asked her to prepare a report to outline the payment plan to the banks, as well as an overall report of the company's financial picture and have it ready the next morning. Betty told him that she had already prepared those reports and Armando congratulated her for being so efficient.

Claudia Bosch walked into Armando's office and asked him to speak to him in private. He tried to tell her that he couldn't, and for extra security hugged Betty's shoulder to prevent her from leaving. However, Betty told Armando that she had work to do and left him all alone with Claudia -- which did not please Armandito one bit. Claudia asked Armando to get rid of Betty so they could spend the night together again. Armando told her that he had a lot of stuff to do, that he was busy and didn't have time to be with her. She told him that she would let him be if he kissed her, which he did and Betty overheard everything.

Marcela called Patricia to ask her if Armando was at work because his cell phone was off and she could't reach him. Patricia told her that he had just arrived. Patricia was on her way to Armando's office, which prompted Bertha's radar to go into action and alert Sofía to call Betty to let her know that Patricia was on her way and might catch Armando in a "compromising" position. Armando was still going to town with Claudia, when Betty came out and told Armando that she had a message for him. Armando, because he really was an idiot at heart (apparently), got mad at Betty for interrupting... Patricia gave Armando the messages and knew something was amiss since his hair was all messed up.

Freddy went to Hugo to tell him to ensure that the next collection went perfectly, he needed to allow Jenny to model with Ecomoda! Hugo made fun of Freddy.

Bertha's husband called her to let her know that he was back from his trip and wanted to see the car she bought with the six million pesos he left with her. Bertha was a tad nervous, to say the least.

Betty finished one of her unending series of reports about the state of EcoModa and told Mario and Armando about the projections for payments to the creditors, which would only work if the next four collections are a success. Mario told Armando that there was just no way that they'll be able to meet their outstanding debts and that the only thing left to do was for Armando to save EcoModa and see what else he could do afterwards. Betty recommended that they pursue a strategy that included exporting the merchandise to try to get rid of the stuff from the failed collections.

After Betty went home, Mario kept talking to Armando about the dire situation at EcoModa, how Betty's projections stated that they must fulfill all their outstanding debts within the next year, and that if things continue going the way they were, before the end of that year Armando would have to hand over the presidency to Daniel. However, there won't be a company to give Daniel to preside over, since it now belonged to Miss Universe also known as the beautiful "genie." Mario began to plant the seeds of doubt regarding Armando's blind trust in ugly Betty... Armando told Mario that he did trust Betty, that she was completely trustworthy, that any time that he asked for the company back she would return it without batting an eyelid. Mario told Armando to be very careful of the way he treated Betty, since all of them (Armando, Mario, the Valencias, the Mendozas) were now in her hands.

The new Bertha got home and was greeted by her Gordito. He inquired after the car since he has bought her a gift for it. Bertha had to confess about the lipo surgery which made her husband fainted.

Episode 37 - Ecomoda In Troubled Waters

Freddy told Aura Maria that Sofia slapped him because he made a comment about the new fitting model, and Aura Maria told him that Jenny was Sofia’s husband’s mistress. Efrain (Sofia’s husband) arrived to pick up Jenny, who was making every effort to drive Sofia up the wall. Inesita told Sofia that it could not be a coincidence that Jenny just happened to show up at EcoModa, that it had to be Jenny’s way of paying Sofia back for all the things she said to her when they ran into Jenny and Efrain at the bar the night they all got drunk.

Betty got home and told Nicolas about how badly things were going at EcoModa, and also told him Armando’s plans to protect EcoModa by having TerraModa take over it.

Armando arrived at Marcela’s apartment and asked her what will happen if she told Daniel and his parents about the failed collection. He told her that if she talked to them, he’ll back out of the marriage, and that if she helped him with the company he’ll “do her the favor” of marrying her… However, at the same time he approached her and started kissing her passionately and Marcela told him that she will help him, only if he promised that he won’t do anything crazy.

Nicolas told Betty that with the paper that Armando signed for the loan, he practically handed her EcoModa on a silver platter. Betty told him that Armando did it to protect the company and that eventually TerraModa would put a lien on EcoModa to protect it from its other creditors.

Nicolas told her that if she was going to participate in this set up, she had to be aware that it may be legal but not ethical. She told him that she felt like she owed it to Armando to do this, and also made him promise that he won’t say anything to anyone because she promised Armando she wouldn’t tell anyone either. And, that for the time being, they won’t be able to set up a formal office, and since Armando told her to run the company as she saw fit, she wanted to hire her father to handle the Accounting books for TerraModa.

Sánchez told Nicolás that they have to acount for all of EcoModa's property prior to placing the lien. Bertha told Sofía that she had figured out how to get Patricia to undergo a pregnancy test and finally know if she was faking or not. The banks started calling EcoModa since the Chamber of Commerce bulletin announced the lien by TerraModa had already been published. Betty did her best to keep them at bay. Nicolás told Betty that the process had started against EcoModa. There was no going back.

Bertha told Gutiérrez that Patricia hadn't had any of the blood tests required of all new employees and that she wasn't covered by a health plan -- "a big problem should she have an accident at work." Gutiérrez told Patricia to have the tests done. She of course didn't want to get them done, but tough luck... Even Marcela won't get her out of this one.

Marcela asked Armando if he was okay since she thought he was looking pretty bad lately. He told her that, as usual, he was worried about the upcoming launch. She baded him goodbye and went on her way to pick up Armando's parents at the airport.

Betty got a call from Wilson saying that someone was waiting for her. She told Armando that the paperwork for the lien by TerraModa against EcoModa had arrived. Mario asked who was delivering the paperwork and Betty answered that Nicolás Mora, a friend, was making the delivery. Mario got very worried and asked Armando if he knew who Nicolás was -- whether he could be trusted. Armando told him that Nicolás was a classmate of Betty, a neighbor who was working with her at TerraModa.

Nicolás gave Betty the paperwork and told her that the judge was going to send a court official to perform an inventory of EcoModa's property. He told her that this could not be avoided and that there was no way to know when it will happen. The phone rang in the President’s office and since Betty wasn't there to answer it, Armando yelled out her name... Mario warns him to stop yelling at "The Monster" because from this moment forward she owned EcoModa.

Mario asked Betty about her meeting with the lawyer he recommended and she told him about the meeting. Mario reminded her to make sure that everything was handled very carefully. Betty explained that everything was going well, and dropped the bomb about the inventory. Armando had one of his fits of hysteria and started yelling at Betty for not taking care of avoiding this, Betty explained that this was something beyond their control. She was obviously ticked off by Armando and off she went to her office. Mario told Armando that Betty was right and that it was important that he stopped yelling at her.

Armando went to Betty's office and asked her if she had prepared the payment projections... She told him that she had them. Armando then, very calmly, started to talk to her and told her that she needed to understand that these were very tough times for him, that he was upset that he had given his company to her. Armando hugged her and told her that he was fearful that they would be found out, that he won't be able to save the company, but Betty comforted him and told him that she will take care of everything, that she will be behind him 100%, that they'll work together and be able to conquer it all. Armando took hold of Betty's hands and told her that she was the motor that runs his life, and that together with love they'll be able to fly above it all, do great things, fly over the ocean, the mountains... Betty told him: yes, doctor, we'll go hand in hand, safeguarding one another, you and me against the world, until death do us part, doctor... Did you really think that this happened? Sorry!! Another dream courtesy of Betty's fertile imagination!

As usual, reality bites and Betty woke and found Armando yelling at her since they had to go to the banks.

Episode 36 - The Blackmail

Marcela came home from her trip to the US and went in to see Armando to tell him that she had already bought her wedding trousseau and fabric for her wedding dress. She said this in front of Mario and Betty, who didn’t take the news very well.

Marcela showed Hugo the fabric for her dress and asked Mariana for the sales reports, and was very concerned to see how badly it has gone. Hugo told her that it was due to the poor quality fabrics they used.

Marcela went to the board room where she found Armando, Mario, and Betty and asked them for an explanation. Marcela blamed Armando for being so stubborn about using the poor quality fabrics and asked him how much money they’ve lost…

She then aimed her guns at Betty, who was standing, to tell her since she must know them by heart. Betty said nothing. Armando told Marcela to calm down, that EcoModa was sufficiently strong to handle this drawback, which was all it was. Armando asked Betty to please sit down… Marcela gave her one of those ‘if looks could kill’ looks and told Armando that for once she’d like to have a conversation in private, meaning without ugly Betty around, since she was not a stockholder.

Armando told Marcela that Betty was for all intents the Financial VP and that he needed her there. Marcela sarcastically gave Betty a hand and blamed her for the financial disaster, but Armando stood up for her saying that Betty was just following orders. Betty said that she’d rather leave and go out to lunch and let them talk in private. After some more arguing, Armando, Mario and Marcela decide that they have to launch a new collection as soon as possible. So they told Hugo to get going. Hugo reminded Armando, mockingly, about the fact that the fabrics must be of top quality.

Hugo had asked Inesita to select the new fitting model from a group waiting in the lobby. Without realizing it, Inesita selected Jenny, Sofia’s husband’s mistress.

The cartel came back from lunch and Freddy told them that he had seen a model tailor made for him, referring to Jenny, and Aura Maria got very jealous.

Hugo reminded Armando about their bet and the fact that he had to dress up in drag.

Mario told Armando that it was obvious they were not going to meet their business goals and it was time to come clean with the board. Armando told him that he was not going to hand the presidency and his head in a silver platter to Daniel.

Sofia had a fit when she saw Jenny and started asking for her not to be hired. The cartel tried to calm her down, but she went to Hugo’s corner to tell him that he couldn’t hire Jenny because she took her husband away from her. Hugo, just to be contrary, told her right at that moment that he was hiring Jenny. Sofia went to Armando to tell her about her problem.Armando asked Hugo not to hire Jenny, but Hugo just to spite Armando and Sofia hired her. Armando told Sofia that he couldn’t do anything about Hugo’s decision, and Sofia went off crying.

Marcela didn’t want Jenny to be hired from the first moment she saw her, and when she found out that Jenny was Sofia’s husband’s mistress she was even more against it. She told Armando that they couldn’t do that to Sofia, but Armando told her that he already tried reasoning with Hugo but did not cut any ice with him.

Armando asked Marcela not to tell her brother or his parents about the failure of the most recent collection, and Marcela didn’t like it. Betty explained to Armando that the consequences of the loan that TerraModa has given EcoModa and that she will have to register the business situation with the Chamber of Commerce. Marcela told Sofia that Hugo won’t budge on hiring Jenny. Patricia told Marcela that Aura Maria took Mario away from her.

Betty told Armando that she felt terrible for the problems at EcoModa and also that she felt it was her fault that the collection failed since it was her economic analysis that led to buying the cheaper fabrics. Armando told her that she shouldn’t feel bad because it was his decision since he accepted the conditions to be able to meet his goals, and he knew that she had told him that she didn’t know anything about the fashion business – that all the responsibility was his. Betty told him that she was here for him and will do everything she could to prevent having to have TerraModa take over EcoModa.

Jenny called Efrain (Sofia’s husband) to tell him that she’ll be working at EcoModa, but he asked her to leave immediately because Sofia was going to kill her. Sofia talked to Efrain as well and demanded that he made Jenny leave EcoModa. Freddy arrived and asked if they already hired the new fitting model because she was a “remamita,” which infuriated Sofia, who slapped poor Freddy.

Armando told Betty that TerraModa was established with a seed investment of $160 million pesos, but that she was able to lend EcoModa $200 million pesos – how did she accomplish that? She told him that she invested the money in the stock market. Armando congratulated her but also askd her how come she always used the pronoun “we” when talking about TerraModa. She explained that a friend from school, Nicolas Mora, was helping her out, but made it clear that Nicolas was not aware of anything about why TerraModa was established, that he was just an employee. Armando reminded her that no one should know the real reason behind TerraModa, only Betty, himself, and Mario.

Episode 35 - Ecomoda Gives Birth To Terramoda

Mario told him that it is possible that this woman could still arrive and teach him about love, but that hopefully she’ll find him before he got married, but Armando told him that he was too close to getting married and that the woman that he was going to love would not arrive after all.

Betty came out of her office and told Armando that she could clean his office, but Armando refused to let her do it. He asked her again to go home to rest, and apologized again. We then see Mario and Armando in the executive bathroom washing glasses and talking. It was very funny, Mario washing, Armando drying…

Armando told Mario that he did the worst thing he had ever done to anyone by leaving Betty in her office all night. Mario told him how he could behave as if Betty didn’t matter, that she’s St. Betty. Armando told him that Betty was a wonderful woman, that he had never met anyone like her, because she was loyal, obedient, honest, and was the one person he trusts implicitly.

When Betty got home she ran into Nicolas and told him about the loan from TerraModa. Gutierrez came to work looking like he’d run into a pack of wild cats, and called Freddy and Berta to his office to ask them for their letter of resignation since they caused this problem for him at home. The cartel went to see Armando and asked him to help Freddy and Berta. Armando asked Gutierrez what happened, to which Gutierrez responded that his cat scratched him. Armando reminded him that he didn’t have a cat. Gutierrez had no other choice than to let Berta and Freddy be. The cartel thanked Armando for his help.

Patricia came to the office and Armando and Mario were dismayed to find out that she was back.

Armando said that she was like the Terminator, that you think she’s gone, she comes back again and again. Patricia said that Daniel asked her not to resign, which Armando didn’t want to hear.

Betty was in her room, writing in her diary, saying that she prayed that Armando’s business plan worked out, that she would feel guilty if he failed. She also said that she was scared about the money he borrowed from TerraModa, and that she was glad to know that she was the most important person in Armando’s life, more than his own fiancée, but that for him she was not a woman. Betty also wrote that she spent a hellish night locked in her office and he didn’t even think about her, that he only saw her as an employee. She heard him say that he was waiting for the woman of his dreams, but he didn’t realize that she was there, just a few feet away from his desk. She told her diary that she had no ideal how to show him that she was the woman he needed, and that he’ll never know it. Only a miracle would make him realize how she felt, and she didn’t believe in miracles anymore, much less now that he was so close to getting married.

Betty told Nicolas that she was going to ask Armando for permission to set up an office for TerraModa, because she wanted her dad to do the books for the company. And, she also told Nicolas that they needed to have plenty of cash available in case Armando wanted to ask for another loan.

Armando was very worried because his business/sales strategy was a failure.

When Betty got to work he asked her for another loan and puts EcoModa up as collateral. Mario told him that this meant giving Betty complete control over EcoModa. Armando said that this was exactly what he was doing and told Betty that since sales were so bad and cash flow into the company was minimal, the banks were going to want to dismantle EcoModa. Betty told him that she can hold off the banks until the next collection came out, but Armando told her that they needed more time, so he wanted TerraModa to sue EcoModa so that the banks won’t. Betty was completely against doing this because even though this would be legally correct, it was unethical. Armando told her that this was the only way he could pay back the company’s debts. He begged her not to abandon him, that he needed her help, and actually questioned her loyalty to him!

Betty went to her office to think about it all and thought about how Armando had always supported her, encouraged and motivated her, stood up for her with Marcela and Daniel, and believed in her. So she decided to help him and told herself that she could not leave him stranded. Betty told Armando that she was completely loyal to him and that she will do whatever he needed her to do. He told her to go ahead with the suit over EcoModa and thanked her for her assistance.

Episode 34 - A Night At The Office

Aura Maria wanted to go home after talking to Gutierrez but he asked her to stay so they could dance, and later go to a quieter place. Just then, Gutierrez’ cellular phone rang and it was his wife, so he had to go to the bathroom to take her call.

Aura Maria seized the opportunity to call Freddy but they couldn’t hear each other well because of the noise from the music. However, Freddy was able to at least find out where she was.

Betty got all her work done, was exhausted and wanted to go home, but when she went to open her door, she realized that Armando and Claudia were still there. She was stuck. Armando and Claudia start necking and when things got a little “hot,” she told him that she didn’t want to do anything in the office and invited him to her apartment. Betty didn’t know that they had left because Armando left the lights and music on.

Gutierrez was dancing with Aura Maria when his wife caught him trying to kiss her. She grabbed him by the ear and dragged him home! He left Aura Maria to pay the bill, and Freddy, who had just arrived to “rescue her,” had to leave his watch behind to secure payment.

Betty called home again to say that Armando asked several employees to work late so Hermes couldn’t argue with her. Betty was very sad in her office, thinking that the love of her life was off with someone else.

Freddy told Aura Maria about Armando’s decision regarding her being fired and also that he was the one that called Gutierrez’ wife.

Patricia went to Daniel’s apartment to beg him not to make her resign because she needed the money. He again set down the law about wanting her for sex and information. He then stood up and told her to undress that he’ll wait for her in his bedroom; she acted as if she was going to leave, but decided to do it.

Freddy took Aura Maria home and she thanked him with a kiss on the lips, which was like heaven to Freddy.

After having sex with Patricia, Daniel called a taxi and told her to go. He told her not to forget to close the door behind her, and he went to sleep.

The next day at EcoModa: Berta was worried that Gutierrez was going to fire her for giving out his home phone number.

Armando went to his office and was upset to see that the lights and the music were still on, the wine glasses, and mess he left behind was still there. He opened the door to Betty’s office and found her asleep at the keyboard. He threw the cork from the bottle at her to wake her up and started yelling at her for being asleep at the office. He asked her why his office was a mess and why she was sleeping at work, asking her if she had a bad night or was sick. She told him that she had a terrible night because she was up until 3 am waiting for him to tell her that it was okay to go home, and fell asleep, but that she woke up at 6 am and since she still could hear the music she fell asleep again.

Armando was crushed to hear what he did and asked her if she spent the whole night in her office. Betty said that all she did was follow his instructions to stay in her office until he told her that it was okay to come out. She also told him that she heard and saw nothing. He told her that he didn’t do anything, that he left at 2 am and forgot to let her know.

Betty gave him the report she’d prepared the night before and called a cleaning lady to pick up Armando’s office. Armando felt guilty for what he did to Betty. He apologized to her, and told her to go home to rest.

Mario went to Armando’s office and when he noticed the mess, he asked him how he could be so dumb to leave the evidence in full display. He also asked him for all the details about his evening. Betty listened in on the conversation, during which Armando told Mario that the women he had been with recently, including Marcela, just weren’t for him. That he saw them and desired them, but then when he was close to them he just didn’t feel anything. That out of all the women in his life the best one was Marcela because she represented stability. Mario told him that this must mean that he was leaving the door open for a woman to come in and fill his life with love, but Armando told him that he doesn’t even know what love was.

This filled Betty with hope.

Episode 33 - TerraModa Saves Ecomoda

Armando talked to Hugo to resolve the problem of his resignation, and Hugo told him that he will come back when Betty was no longer running the business. Nicolas arrived EcoModa to give Betty the checkbook and almost fainted when he saw Patricia walking out.

The cartel was at lunch at El Corrientazo, and were hatching a plan to get back at Patricia. Berta said that she was going to find a dress just like Patricia’s because Patricia was always making fun of how she dresses. They also talked about how close Patricia was to getting Mario to move in with her, which drove Aura Maria up the wall. Aura Maria also decided to do something to get back at Patricia. Armando asked Betty to sign the check for TerraModa’s loan to EcoModa.

Armando told Mario that the loan was to prevent any problems with the banks and to allow TerraModa to take over EcoModa before the banks did.

Aura Maria went to Mario’s office and started necking with him so that Patricia will catch them in the act. This resulted in Mario firing Aura Maria. She started crying and the cartel scolded her for behaving in such a way.

Patricia was very upset and went to ask for her check again since she planned to resign. Hugo comforted Patricia when she told him the story about Mario and Aura Maria.

Gutierrez called Aura Maria to his office and told her that she was fired, but took advantage of the situation to tell her that they should go out for a drink to see if he could do something to rectify her being fired.

Armando also scolded Mario for the problem with Aura Maria. Betty told Aura Maria that she was going to talk to Armando about her to see if she could helo fix things. Daniel asked Gutierrez if Patricia has handed in her letter of resignation, since he asked her to resign because she was not going along with his demands to have sex with him and also spy for him. Gutierrez told Daniel about the problem between Aura Maria and Patricia.

Armando told Mario to apologize to Patricia since they have to prevent Patricia from spying for Daniel at all costs . Betty asked Armando to help Aura Maria, and told him that by law Aura Maria can sue them for unjustified termination. Armando told Betty that if Aura Maria had threatened them with a suit, but Betty told him that she just wanted him to know what could happen. Gutierrez asked Armando what was going to happen with Aura Maria and Armando told him that all she was going to receive was a verbal admonishment.

But Gutierrez relayed the message as if it is up to him to decide what will happen with Aura Maria’s future and that they needed to get together that evening to discuss it. Hugo and the fitting models went to Armando’s office to arrange the contracts, but he told them that he could only hire two of them. Armando asked Betty to tell Sofia to draw up the contracts and to place a Help Wanted ad in the paper for another one.

Hugo stopped Betty as she was leaving Presidencia and made one of his world-famous rude jokes.

Freddy and the cartel didn’t want to let Aura Maria go out alone with Gutierrez, but he told her that it was just the two of them or she was fired.

Mario went to Patricia’s apartment to apologize about what happened at the office and to make up with her. Patricia took advantage of the situation and puts conditions on their reconciliation, including getting married and that he has to fire Aura Maria. Mario told her that he couldn’t do either of those things and that they could get back together but with no strings attached.

Aura Maria told Betty that Claudia Bosch was waiting to see Armando in the lobby, and also to let her know about her upcoming meeting with Gutierrez.

Episode 32 - Ugly Betty In Charge

Days later…

Sofía held on to Patricia’s paycheck to teach her a lesson since Patricia was always saying that she didn’t need to work to live. Patricia complained to Gutierrez, who told her that he couldn’t do anything about it, that she must go talk to Betty. Patricia went to Betty, who was preoccupied waiting for the sales reports and paid no attention to her.

Armando called Betty and she told him to come home because of the problems with the sales reports. Hugo asked Sofia to draw up the contracts for the “fitting” models and he has selected some models who charge very high hourly fees. Sofia asked for Betty’s approval, since Armando said that he didn’t want such expensive models hired. Betty told Sofia to tell Hugo that Armando’s orders are the law. Sofia told Hugo, who went to Betty’s office with the models and Betty reiterates that they couldn’t be hired. Hugo resigned, again, and he and the models made fun of Betty. Patricia also made fun of Betty, telling her that she was “queen for one more day” and that her horse-drawn carriage was going to turn into a pumpkin pulled by mice.That evening, at Betty’s house.

Nicolas told Betty that they’ve made quite a bit of profit in the stock market and that they’ve increased the seed capital for TerraModa. Hermes asks Betty why she and Nicolas are always on the Internet, and she told him that they’ve been playing the stock market with Armando’s money, and that both of them are getting paid for it.

The next day at EcoModa...Yesterday’s models were waiting outside EcoModa and when they saw Betty they mocked her again. A bank manager was looking for Armando, and Patricia seized the opportunity to flirt with him and told him that she was Armando’s assistant and that in his absence she was running the company, and asked Sofia and Berta to get them some coffee and to bring it to the board room.

At that very moment, Betty arrived and the bank manager recognized her and asked if they could talk. Betty asked Patricia to get them some coffee (!) and to also get her the list of phone calls to return, which made Patricia absolutely furious. Betty added insult to injury by asking Sofia if her pay situation has been fixed, since she was the President’s beloved secretary. Betty made fun of Patricia, telling her that as long as Armando was away she was the boss and that the horse-drawn carriage hadn’t changed back to a pumpkin and mice, which made Patricia even angrier. Betty then straightened things out with the bank manager.

Armando and Mario came back to EcoModa. Betty had placed some flowers and other things in Armando’s office, as a way to welcome him, but Armando hated them and told her to get rid of them. She told him about all the problems with the new collection. Armando asked Betty for a loan from TerraModa, to be ready to protect themselves from the banks. Betty called Nicolas to ask him to bring her TerraModa’s check book.

Patricia complained to Armando about the way Betty treated her, especially treating her as if she were Betty’s secretary, and also that she still hadn’t been paid. Armando got mad at Patricia for complaining to him and told her that it was her duty to work with Betty and support her. Patricia complained that the only thing that she didn’t do was to fix her hair every morning, and Betty (who was in on the conversation) told her that all she needed was Patricia’s support since she couldn’t do everything by herself. And, that she also told Patricia that if she couldn’t do it, the other secretaries were available to help. Patricia kept complaining, and Betty, who was standing where Mario and Armando couldn’t see her, started making faces at Patricia, pulled at her eyes, flattened her nose, and stuck her tongue out at Patricia.

Episode 31 - Betty, The Boss

Armando, after talking and talking to Hugo was finally able to convince him to stay at EcoModa, but he had to agree to a bet that if the new collection failed he’d have to dress up in a drag queen’s outfit and go out in public to a party with Hugo. If Hugo loses the bet, he’d have to keep using the poor quality materials. They hugged and the crowd applauded because they’ve “made up”!

The cartel, totally and completely bombed, went to the bathroom where they found Sofía crying. Inesita is worried about her friends and had called Freddy to help her. Betty went to the bathroom and was feeling quite dizzy, splashed some cold water on her face, and fainted since she was not used to drinking. Freddy arrived and carried Betty out of the bar. Betty opened her eyes and said “Don Armando” to which Freddy answered that she was delirious. Betty was dreaming that Armando was carrying her off and she almost fainted again and woke up as she heared her father yelling. Don Hermes was furious that Betty was in such a state and had to be carried out of the bar. Betty denied being drunk. Betty asked her mother how they ended up at the bar (in pajamas!), since they knew that she had a ride to get home. The cartel and Freddy couldn’t help but laugh at the whole situation of Hermes going to pick up Betty. Betty got home and her dad kept at her.

Finally, she was in her room alone and started writing in her diary about how she was so in love with Armando and doesn’t know how she’ll be able to handle being apart from him for two weeks.

The next morning, on her way to EcoModa…Betty told Nico about her night out with the girls and that this was the first time she’d ever been drunk and how her parents showed up in pajamas! The cartel had a major hangover and Freddy made them a special portion to make them feel better. They all asked Betty about her “Don Armando” comment after she fainted. Armando got to EcoModa and talked to Betty because he wanted to make sure that Betty was ready and able to hold fort at the helm of EcoModa while he was away. Betty assured him that she was.

Armando told everyone that he, Marcela, and Mario will be traveling to the USA and that Betty would run EcoModa in their absence. Hugo started making fun of Betty, and Marcela joined in by laughing at Hugo’s behavior.

Patricia asked for leave because she didn’t want to be at EcoModa while Betty was running it. Marcela told Armando that she was going to take advantage of the trip to the US to buy stuff for their wedding, but he told her that he doesn’t have time to worry about the details for the wedding and that he trusts her to take care of everything. Betty was sad to hear that the plans for the wedding were going ahead.

Armando told Betty that he was leaving and that he’ll be in touch with her so she can update him about the goings on at EcoModa. During this conversation Betty had one of her daydreams and imagined that Armando hugged her and told her that he didn’t know how he’ll be able to spend so many days away from her. They were about to kiss when the phone ranged and Armando snapped her out of her daydream. He left without even saying goodbye.

Patricia told Marcela that after the trip, she and Mario are going to move in together since he told her that when he comes back they’ll settle their relationship. Aura María went to a hotel with Mario before he left on his trip and asked him to formalize their relationship. He told her that he didn’t plan to “settle” with anyone.

The cartel was hanging around the lobby after lunch and this made them late coming back to their desks. Patricia made a big deal out of their being late and told Gutierrez about it so he will take action against them. The cuartel ran to Betty to ask for her help, since she was “boss” now.

Betty was in her office, staring at Armando’s screensaver on her PC. Gutierrez also went to Betty’s office to punish the cartel, but Betty told him that they arrived early from lunch but that she gave them permission to hang around the lobby afterwards. Gutierrez was mad because he couldn’t do anything about the situation.

Episode 30 - The Cartel Celebrates

Catalina told Armando about the French buyer’s comments and hard it was going to be to sell the new collection. She also advised him that this was not the time to be on Hugo’s bad side because he was going to need him.

Betty asked her dad for permission to go out with her friends, explaining that she won’t be able to do it afterwards because she’ll be running EcoModa in Armando’s absence.

Roberto went to Armando to ask him about his poor judgment with the fabrics, telling him that this was a very risky behaviour. But, he told him that he was confident that things will turn out okay and that he was leaving for London and won’t be back until September’s Board of Directors meeting and of course Armando’s wedding to Marcela.

Armando apologized to Inesita for yelling at her.The cartel told Inesita and Betty about Hugo’s beau. Freddy realizes that the cartel was going out to party and wanted to go with them, but they wouldn’t let him.

Catalina talked to Mario and Armando and convinced Armando to try to mend fences with Hugo, telling him that Hugo is a great designer and he needed him on his side, that this was not the time to have Hugo going to the press. She also advised him to make up with Marcela because she is also very good at what she does. Armando went off to find Hugo since he needed to get things straightened out before his trip.

Marcela’s sister María Beatriz told Armando where he could find Hugo and he left.

Meanwhile, Betty and the cartel got to the bar they were going to celebrate. Betty said that she has to go make a phone call and her friends started to kid her that she must be calling Nico. She said that she had to call her dad to let him know where she was. She said that she doesn’t bother Nico, who had a lot of dates already. Nico was actually out with the neighborhood crew, who asked him to join them at a bar just to take advantage of him and have him pick up the tab. Betty reached her dad to let him know where she was and give him the phone number of the bar, but ended giving him the address of the place also. The cartel started toasting Betty and especially how this (Betty being in charge) was going to make Patricia feel.

Armando got to the place where Hugo was hanging out, which just so happened to be a gay bar. Armandito had to deal with men who are hitting on him, and even worse, he ran into Miguel from RagTela, and was surprised to find out he’s gay (wonder what Miguel thought about seeing Armando there!).

Armando is getting just a tad nervous to be “surrounded” and wanted to get out of there ASAP, but at that very moment he saw Hugo arrive. Armando told Hugo that they needed to talk, that they needed to clear things up, because Armando was leaving the next day and that they just couldn’t leave things like that because Armando needed Hugo. To the unknowing ear, this exchange sounds like a lover’s quarrel and Armando had to actually chase Hugo down to the men’s room to make him listen to him.

In the meantime, the cartel is pretty much getting wasted.

Armando chased Hugo all over the bar and finally got him to listen to him.

The Cartel is drunk and Sandra, Mariana and Aura María started dancing, and force Berta, Sofía, and Inés to join them. Betty, who was very drunk by now stayed put, but the cartel finally made her stand up and dance. Betty thought that she was looking sexy with her dancing, unfortunately, she was not!

The cartel found out that el Cheque (Sofia’s Ex) and Jenny were on the dance floor as well and Sofía started yelling at him, saying that he was out there spending the money he should have given to his children. Jenny and el Cheque left. The cartel told Sofía to forget about el Cheque and find herself another man. The cartel started flirting a group of men at a table. They asked Mariana, Sandra, and Aura María to dance, and Berta got up and started dancing by herself. Sofía went off to the bathroom crying, leaving Inesita and Betty by themselves. Inesita, noticing that her friends were in a highly intoxicated state, asked Betty to get everyone together so that they could go home.

Episode 29 - The Fashion Flop

The fashion show finally took place.

The cartel sneaked in to watch, but Marcela saw them and shoed them away. They sneaked into Armando’s office and watched from there.

Roberto was not very happy because he could tell that the fabrics were not up to his standards.

The cartel went down to the reception area to wait for Betty and Inesita so they could go out to celebrate Betty’s new job, salary raise, and upcoming two weeks at the helm of EcoModa.

After the fashion show, a very important French buyer asked Catalina to see the designs up close, and when he felt the fabrics, he told her that they’ll have a very hard time selling the collection because of the poor quality of the fabrics.

Marcela told Armando that he must apologize to Hugo for the way he behaved before the fashion show. Armando refused and said that Hugo had to do his job, and that if Hugo wanted to quit, it was fine with him – that there were many good designers out there to pick from.

He kept attacking Hugo, who stood by his actions. Hugo told Armando that he was going to go to the press and would tell them what happened. Marcela was so upset at Armando that she also quitted and told him to run EcoModa however he pleased.

The cartel was still waiting for Betty and Inesita, when they saw a very handsome gentleman arrived. They all start flirting with him and he very kindly told them how nice they all looked. They were just overwhelmed by this guy! However, at that very moment, the elevator opened and Hugo’s exit bursted their bubble – this hunk of a man was none other than Rolando, Hugo’s “partner.”

Episode 28 - The Chaotic Fashion Show

In the meantime, Betty and Nico were on their way to the Chamber of Commerce to register the new company, called TerraModa, and also went to the Banco Montreal, where Betty met with her old boss, and opened an account for TerraModa.

Betty arrived at EcoModa and everyone warned her that Armando was desperately looking for her and was in a fit as usual. When she went into Armando’s office he scolded her for being late but she answered back that he’d given her permission to be late since she had to take care of setting up TerraModa. Armando calmed down and asked Betty to please help him to make sure everything was set for the launching.

The models were in the show room and Freddy was doing his “I’m an executive” act, and started to model in his typically Freddy Stewart Contreras way. Betty, Sofía, and Berta were watching him and were amused by his antics. However, Hugo, Armando, Mario and Catalina’s arrival puts a damper on Freddy’s performance.

Betty asked Armando for permission to start investing TerraModa’s capital and he told her to do with it as she deem fit. Gutierrez asked Armando about what was expected of him while Armando, Mario, and Marcela would be out of town for two weeks – obviously he thought he was going to be in charge – but Armando told him that Betty was the only one he will let fill in while he was away. Armando was very upset and had an argument with Hugo. Marcela asked Catalina to help Armando relax and they went to his office where Cata gave him a massage. Since Betty couldn’t see what they were doing, she only heard what Armando was saying, she thought the worst, that there was something going on between Armando and Catalina. When she left her office she realized that Catalina was only giving Armando a massage.

Inesita showed Hugo the designs that the models were going to wear and when he realized that these were the clothes made with the inferior fabrics, he said he would not let the show go on.

The cartel told Betty that they want to go out to celebrate her new position and salary increase, as well as the fact that she would be running EcoModa during Armando’s absence. Armando asked Betty to stay until the fashion show was over.Hugo told the models that there would not be a show, and when Marcela asked him why, he told her about the fabrics and they called Armando, with whom they had an argument.

Armando ordered Hugo to begin the fashion show, telling him that he’s the President of EcoModa and he gives the orders – they almost came to blows over this. Hugo refused to go out onto the catwalk and be associated with the inferior quality fabrics. Inesita told Armando that it would be a mistake to go ahead with the fashion show without Hugo, and Armando’s response was to yell at her and order her to get the models ready.

Marcela pleaded with Hugo to participate, and after much pleading she was able to convince him.

Back in his office, Armando was a nervous wreck and Betty cheered him up – she daydreamed that she was able to hug him and tell him how she was always going to back him up, and how much she loved him, and he told her that her hug made everything better, and thanked her for her support…

Marcela’s knock on the door put an end to the dream.

Episode 27 - Armando's First Fashion Line Launch

Mario confirmed with Armando that the capital for the new company was the bribe money from RagTela. Armando told him that he doesn’t want Betty to know where the money was coming from. Armando finally convinced Betty to set up the new company and told her that she cannot mention it to her family, to his family, or to Marcela and Daniel. He also gave her free rein to run the business (investments) as she deems fit.

Catalina wanted to get detailed descriptions of Hugo’s designs to be able to draft press releases. Armando pleaded with her not to make mention of the fabric being used for the designs because they were of lower quality than usual. Catalina asked Armando to get Betty out of her cave-like office. Armando told Gutierrez that he needed to set up Olarte’s old office for Betty’s use.

However, Betty asked Armando to let her stay in her office because she wanted to be near him (no kidding!), if he doesn’t mind. Armando told her that he doesn’t mind at all and that if that’s what she wanted, he’d rather have her near because he needed her, which made Betty very happy.

When Betty got home, she told her parents about her pay raise. Later in her bedroom, she told Nico about the new company.Betty hired Nico to help her run the new company, and he gladly accepted. Betty told him that her boss trusts her completely and talked about Armando in a very loving way. Nico told Betty that it was obvious that the new company’s capital was coming from the bribe money and that she should be careful of her boss. He also noticed that Betty was obviously in love with Armando.

Patricia was harping on Mario about moving in together. Mario asked her for a month to think about it, which he did just to keep her happy – he needed to keep her away from Daniel, although he had no intention of moving in with her.

A few days later at EcoModa…

The day of the launch came and Armando was his usual out-of-control self, screaming at everyone, and getting even more upset because Betty was nowhere to be found. He asked everyone he saw whether they know Betty’s whereabouts, but no one did. He was very nervous because this was his first launch as President and he wanted to make sure that everything went well.

Armando told Mario that he wanted the models to wear the clothes that were made with the RagTela fabrics because he didn’t want to lie to the buyers (Armandito is being, gulp, HONEST?). So, they had to make sure the models don’t wear the one-of-a-kind outfits made by Hugo, but the clothes made in the production line.

Episode 26 - Betty Floats a Company

Mario told Armando that Betty might be as ugly as hell, but that she was an exceptional woman for having confessed about the bribe and for refusing to be bribed. Armando told him that Betty’s behaviour had shown him that she was the right person to run the business they had to establish to save EcoModa.

Marcela told Armando how upset she was that he doesn’t count on her when making business decisions, but he relies on “the ugly Betty” for everything.

Armando called Diana at RagTela and scolded her for having tried to bribe Betty. He demanded that they still give EcoModa the 5% rebate that was part of the bribe, making the discount 15%.

Mario told Armando that Betty was definitely a woman in love because not only did she reject the bribe and missed the opportunity of having all that money, but to have also confessed that she had been bribed, was not only a sign of loyalty but of love. Armando told Mario that she had principles, which both of them lost long ago, and that Betty didn’t take the bribe even though her family was going through financial difficulty.

Armando went to Betty’s office and asked her why she hadn’t reminded him to give her a salary increase. She told him that she felt bad about reminding him. He told her that she was getting a raise, which made her very happy. He then puts his hands on her shoulders and thanked her for all her help and told her how important she was to him.

The door to Betty’s office opened and Mario arrived with Catalina. Catalina greeted Betty very affectionately. They left Betty’s office, and when they closed the door Mario and Armando made some sarcastic remarks about ugly Betty (hello, what’s WRONG with Armando!?), but Catalina told them not to mock Betty.

Armando told Catalina that they’ve called her to hire her to do the public relations for the first launch under his presidency and they all went to Hugo’s lair to look at the designs he was working on.

Mario tried his best to flirt with Catalina, who pretty much compelled him off and told him that after two divorces she had had enough with men, although she told him that she was dating someone else.

Hugo greeted Catalina in his usually overenthusiastic manner and was overjoyed to hear that they would be working together.

Armando asked Betty to establish a new company, which will be in her name only. She was taken completely by surprise and thought that Armando was pulling her leg. He told her that he needed this phantom company to be able to deal with any problem that came up. The capital for the company will be $160 million pesos (I think this converts to $80,000, but I’m not sure).

Marcela complained to Margarita and Roberto about Armando’s behaviour with Betty. Roberto stood up for Betty, saying that ‘she’s a good person’. Marcela kept complaining, saying that if things kept going the way they were, she wouldn’t be surprised (ha, ha, ha!) if ugly Betty ended up running the company as President, since she has gone up in the company by leaps and bounds.

Margarita said that only a Mendoza or a Valencia can fill the presidency and that “that woman” could only become President if she took or bought the company from them (no, she was going to be GIVEN the company!).

Episode 25 - Betty Rejects Bribe

Betty was still at El Corrientazo with the cartel and was dreaming about what she’ll do with the money from the RagTela deal. We saw her arriving at EcoModa in a chauffeur (Freddy) driven Mercedes Benz. She was dressed in a Chanel-type outfit in black and white, with a ridiculous hat and huge Bette Davis-like sunglasses. She invited the cuartel to lunch at the club and they all pile into the Mercedes like in some old movie where you could just fit tons of people into a car with no problem.

They had lunch at the club, and were joined by Armando and Mario, who are fawning all over Betty. After lunch, Armando and Betty took a stroll through the club’s grounds, and in the distance we see the cuartel and Mario actually FROLICKING, with Mario doing a cartwheel!

Betty introduced her parents and Nico to Armando, telling Armando that Nico and Hermes run a business that does accounting jobs for large corporations. Julia was wearing a tennis outfit, while Nico and Hermes are dressed in golf outfits. Armando told Betty that he’d like to take her out to dinner that evening, but as usual, she woke up and realized it was ONLY A DREAM! (especially the part where Marcela and Hugo are actually civil to her).

What a Dream! Poor Betty.

Betty got a call from Miguel, who told her that the shipment with the supplies was on its way and that he still needed to know how to get the money to her. Betty told him that they’ll talk in 10 minutes.

She then called her dad and told him what was going on with RagTela. Her father was furious that she’d even consider taking a bribe to help him. Betty told him that this was exactly what she needed to hear from him, and that she was at peace and will not take the bribe. Daniel got to EcoModa, ready to rumble with Armando to give him the news about the bribe.

Daniel was about to talk to Armando when Betty asked if they can talk in private about something very urgent. She told him about RagTela’s bribe. Marcela walked in on them and starts asking Armando why he was making Daniel wait, and Armando told Marcela about the bribe offer. Daniel joined them (Betty was not there at this time) and played the tape that Olarte made of his conversation with Miguel.

Betty was about to walk back into the room and overheard the tape. Marcela told Daniel that they already knew about the bribe from Betty. Armando argued with Daniel about the tape, and asked why he was so intent on getting Beatriz (Betty) in trouble. He defended her and reminded Daniel that Olarte accepted bribes all the time. Marcela and Daniel left the room obviously annoyed with Armando’s reaction and his defense of Betty.

Armando went back to his office and found Betty who told him that she overheard the argument and felt terrible and wanted to resign. Armando got upset with her and told her that she did the right thing by letting him know ahead of time about the bribe and that she couldn’t resign just when he needed her the most, that everything was okay. Betty told him that she should have told him about it as soon as she knew of the bribe and that she actually was quite tempted to accept the bribe because of the problems at home. That she was about to betray him and her family, and that this is why she needed to resign.

Armando told her that he trusted her absolutely and that she was a human being with weak moments like everyone else. That he never expected her to be a perfect woman, but just a human being who faced her weakness and was able to make the right decision. And that because of this he cannot accept her resignation. He hugged her and helped her dry her tears.

Daniel told Marcela that Armando stands up for Betty more than he does for Marcela herself, and that if things go on this way, Betty was going to end up as President of EcoModa (Oh! Daniel, what a way to fight!).

Episode 24 - Betty at Crossroads

Betty wrote in her diary that she could accept the bribe without feeling guilty because she knew her family needed the money, but she also felt that doing this would mean betraying Armando.

On the other hand she needed to help her dad and it hurt her to see him suffer. So she has to decide between being loyal to her boss or helping her father. She decided to help her dad. She dreamed that she was with Armando and was about to kiss him when her mother woke her from her dream.

Armando asked Betty to get in touch with RagTela so they could close the deal. Olarte visited Miguel and got him to talk about the dealings with EcoModa.

Freddy got upset when he found out that Aura María never made it home the night before and especially when he realized that she spent the night with Mario Calderón. Armando asked Mario about why he was late getting to work and Mario told him about his evening with the receptionist. And, he told Armando that maybe he should go out with Betty, but they both decide that this wasn’t even possible because Betty was so ugly.

Mario, Armando, and Betty meet with RagTela to close the deal, and Diana told Armando that she was pleased that they have decided to buy everything from them. He said they should thank Betty since she was the one that included them in the group of bids. Betty was obviously uncomfortable, but Miguel and Diana thanked her for her help.

Armando was worried that the new line would not be a success and he told Mario that they needed to establish a phantom company with which to do all their business dealings, and which could put a rein on them prior to the banks doing so. They thought that since this would entail a complete take over of EcoModa, they needed to have someone running the company who was completely and absolutely loyal. Armando immediately thought of Betty.

Meanwhile, Miguel called Betty and told her that the business deal will net her $87,000 and that he needed to find out how he could get the money to her. She told him that she’ll call him later.

Olarte called Miguel from Daniel’s office and taped the conversation, during which Miguel told him that thanks to Betty the deal with EcoModa came through and that he was going to give Betty a commission for her assistance.

Betty went to lunch with the cartel and they were talking about how Aura María had landed a rich boyfriend, and they sais that it was obvious that she will be the only one who will be able to climb out of poverty. Aura María told them that the only one will actually be Betty, since she was the one with the degrees, with the boss who thinks she walks on water. Sofía told them that Betty has a boss that won’t even give her a pay raise and that Betty will never have that kind of money, to which Betty responds… ‘who knows what could happen’?

Betty remembered her conversation with Miguel and started to dream about what she would do if she had a lot of money (if I were a rich gal…).

Episode 23 - The Temptation

Berta and Sofia subjected Betty to an interrogation about her lunch date, and Betty was still tight-lipped, and they asked her if she had lunch with Nico, her platonic love, because they were eager to meet him. Sofia asked Betty if she had been given a pay raise now that she’s assistant to the President, and when Betty said they haven’t, Sofia told her to talk to Armando. Betty said she wouldn’t dare.

Julia called Betty and told her that her dad’s situation at work was pretty bad.

Armando, Mario, and Betty were meeting to figure out the expenses for the new launching, and they were cutting costs. They asked Betty for copies of the supplied samples and Betty added RagTela’s proposal to the pile, which took Armando by surprise. She told him that Miguel gave her the samples and offered them a 10% discount. Armando asked that they cut corners even more, but his friend told him not to do it because the cheaper materials are the lower the quality. But Armando only wanted to lower costs so he can meet his goals and did not listen to Mario’s advice.

Betty had to do an analysis of the proposed expenses and had to select the best provider. She mentions San Remo and RagTela and reminded them about Miguel’s offer of a discount, so Armando told her to contact RagTela to negotiate the sale.

Daniel met with Patricia at her apartment, where she told him that Armando went to all the banks with Betty, and that while Armando is out of town on business, Betty is going to be at the helm of EcoModa.

She also told him that she saw Betty with Miguel, adding that this was very suspicious. Daniel told Patricia that he didn’t care about Betty’s whereabouts, he only wanted to know what Armando was up to. But Patricia had succeeded in planting the seed of doubt, so Daniel talked with Olarte who was well known for offering bribes and asked him to find out if Betty was being paid under the table by RagTela. Daniel and Patricia went to bed, after which he just left her and she felt used.

Betty got home and was very worried to find her dad drunk and sad, because he was sure he definitely going to be laid off. Betty told Nico about not being able to get him a job at EcoModa and also begged him not show up there because she told her friends that she was in love with him. He was surprised to hear this and asked her when this happened. Betty told him not to be an idiot, that she was not in love with him, she was just using him as an excuse since her co-workers were either married or dating. And that he also couldn’t show up because she had described him to them as tall, strong, a real Casanova, with money and power.

Betty confided in Nico about the bribe offer, which she said would be her salvation. She also told him that RagTela was offering the best prices, that there was nothing underhanded about their offer. Nico advised her against taking the bribe.

Mario offered to give Aura María a ride home, but they end up at a hotel where they slept together.

Episode 22 - The Bribe Offer

Oh, Marcelita, reality bites!! Betty wrote in her diary about Armando, that she was happy that he was confiding his innermost thoughts to her, and that he stood up for her against everyone. He needed her because of work, but she needed him because she loves him.

The next day, Hermes told Julia and Betty that he was on the verge of unemployment because his company went bankrupt. This was of great concern to Betty and she told Hermes that she was getting a raise at work and will be able to take over the expenses at home. She also remembered RagTela guy’s comments.

Nico asked Betty to help him find a job at EcoModa. Miguel called Betty to ask her out to lunch.

Patricia complained to Marcela about her financial woes. Armando asked Mario to be attentive with Patricia, to make sure that she doesn’t start spying for Daniel.

Betty went with Armando to all the banks to register her signature as an authorized EcoModa signatory, in addition to Armando and Mario.

Betty told Armando that she had a person in mind for Olarte’s job, her friend who is an economist, and he told her that he could not decide just yet, but that she should give him his résumé and he’ll let her know later.

The Cartel asked Betty about the previous night’s cocktail party, and they wanted to know if he noticed how nice she looked, but she told them he paid no attention to her. Betty told them that she has other plans for lunch and couldn’t go with them. They asked her with whom, but Betty said nothing.

Armando told Marcela and Hugo that he wanted Claudia Elena to model in the next launching, which made Marcela jealous, since Armando mentioned that he’d seen her at the cocktail party the night before.

Patricia saw when Miguel picked Betty up for lunch. Armando told Marcela that he, Mario, and Marcela will travel to the United States and that Betty would be left in charge while they were away. Hugo and Marcela were completely opposed to this idea.

Miguel asked Betty if anyone knew that she was going out to lunch with him and she said no, but that she also wanted to know why he was being so mysterious. He told her that since she had so much influence with Armando, he needed her help to get him to buy the rest of the supplies from RagTela, and that if this happened she’ll get a commission of up to $80,000. She told him that this was unethical, that she did not agree, and that she was not going to risk her job for it. Miguel told her to think about it because he could give her a 10% discount on the sale.

Betty left the restaurant very preoccupied.

Episode 21 - The RagTela Contract Sealed

Mario and Armando closed the deal with RagTela, bought lower quality fabrics and were told by the RagTela reps (Diana and Miguel Robles) that they could also buy other supplies from them. Miguel, who handled EcoModa’s account, noticed that Betty had Armando’s complete confidence and asked her if she was the one who reviewed the contracts before Armando signs them.

Armando hatched a plan with Mario to be able to meet Claudia Elena Vázquez and started flirting with her. But, his reputation has preceded him and she knew who he was and that he was engaged to Marcela.

Miguel gave Betty the samples for the other supplies and asked her to review them and told her that they can also buy these from RagTela and that he would call her the next day to maybe get together for coffee.

Betty told Armando that everything was ready for signing the contract and since he was busy flirting with Claudia Elena, he got upset with her and acted in his usual rude way.

Betty called her home to tell her parents that she was on her way and Hermes gave her the third degree because it was so late. He asked if Armando was bringing her home and she said yes.

After the contract is signed, Betty wanted to talk to Armando, to ask if he needed her to stay, but again he was trying to woo Claudia Elena and told Betty to just go. Marcela called Armando on his cellular and asked him why he wasn’t home yet. He then decided to play safe and went home. In his car, Armando was moaning about how he had to let Claudia Elena get away, that Mario was right, that he couldn’t get involved with women from the fashion world, he needed to get involved with unknown women and started asking himself where he could find such a woman…

At that very moment, he noticed Betty walking on the sidewalk down this dark and desolate street. He stopped his car and asked her why she was there by herself (you are awake now, selfish!) and she told him that she was trying to catch a cab and thought that she’d have better luck if she walked down to a main road. He offered her a ride, which she didn’t want to accept, but he insisted and she agreed.

When they got to Betty’s house, Armando told her that he needed her help to be able to make things work. Hermes scolded Betty for getting home so late.

Marcela questioned Armando about his latest conquest, and he answered that it was Betty, and Marcela couldn’t help but laugh since she was asking him about “another woman” not ugly Betty.

Episode 20 - The Cocktail Party

Betty told Mario and Armando that it was impossible to reach the goals they have set for the company. She also told them that to be able to reach their goals, they needed to lower the quality of the fabrics used for the designs. That they have to reduce costs to be able to increase production, but that even doing that, it wasn’t certain that they’ll be able to meet their goals without putting the company at risk.

Betty told Armando that it was best if he talked to the Board and let them know that he won’t be able to meet his goals. But, he was against giving up the presidency, and with Mario’s support decided to put it all on the line.

That night, Armando asked Betty to join him to close a deal with RagTela because he wanted her to review the contract prior to signing it. She told the Cartel that she was going to a cocktail party with her boss and asked their help to look better. She also called home to say that she was going to be late because of a business meeting.

In the bathroom, the Cartel congratulated Betty and joked that Armando was going to fall for her, since he gives her rides and takes her to cocktail parties, something he never did with his old secretary. Inesita got an outfit from Hugo’s collection and they fixed Betty up.

As soon as Armando saw her he told her that she looked “divine.” Mario also told her that she looked great. However, as we all suspected, this was only one of Betty’s daydreams. The cruel reality was that Armando didn’t pay attention to how she looked and just told her to get ready to go. Since Betty wasn’t used to wearing high heels, she ran into Armando a few times, and to avoid falling, held on to him, which made him mad.

Aura María flirted with Mario and when they said good night, Mario kissed her on the lips. At the cocktail party, they ran into Claudia Elena Vásquez, and Armando didn’t miss the chance to flirt with her, leaving Betty alone, who again stumbled and fell much to Armando’s chagrin.

Patricia went to Daniel’s office, where he treated her like dirt and asked her for sex in exchange for not letting everyone know what she did to Betty’s computer. Since this would make her look bad to the Mendozas and Valencias which she didn't want (caged like a trapped animal), she agreed.

He also told her that he needed her to spy on Armando. Patricia was offended by his request but what could she do? She agreed to spy for Daniel in exchange for his keeping quiet about her role in damaging Betty’s PC.

Episode 19 - Plot Against Betty Unveiled

Olarte told Daniel that Armando knew already, that they had messed up Betty’s computer, and Daniel reminded him that he wanted his name out of it.

Armando asked Olarte about the problem with Betty’s PC, and he said it was because Betty was trying to take away his job and he wanted her to look bad before the Board. Armando asked if Daniel was involved and also for the name of the person who actually messed up Betty’s computer. Olarte didn’t say anything and Armando fired him too.

Since the Board members were still taking care of some business at EcoModa, Armando got them together again and asked Betty to join them. He told everyone about Olarte’s actions and his plot against Betty.Daniel said they should sue Olarte, and that he would make sure that someone was selected to replace Olarte. Armando responsed that he was not going to hire anyone who wasn’t his own choice. He stood up for Betty in front of everyone and said that he wanted to name her Financial VP, but the Board was dead set against this. He said that she would be his assistant then but that at the next Board meeting the issue would be addressed again.

Daniel told Patricia that he knew that she was the one who messed up Betty’s computer and told her that he’ll be waiting for her in his office.

Armando congratulated Betty for everything she did at the Board, gave her a big hug, thanked her for all her help, and told her that he was giving her a raise.

Betty shared the good news with the Cartel.

Armando told Mario that he was sure that Patricia played a role in the situation with Betty’s PC.

Sofia and Berta told Betty that the only person who had been around her office had been Patricia, who spent quite some time there, which must mean she was the one who messed up her PC.

Armando was worried about Daniel and Patricia’s strange relationship, and asked Mario to take care of her and keep dating her.

Marcela told Patricia that Betty kept getting more powerful, especially now that Armando had said that he wanted her as Financial VP.

Episode 18 - Betty Against The Odds

The Cartel wanted to give Betty the copies that they took away from PC guy, before he realized it, but since Betty was still with the Board, they elected Berta to deliver the reports to her.

Patricia made fun of the Cartel because (according to her), none of them was appropriately dressed to go into the Board meeting.

The PC guy was at loss when he realized that the Cartel have taken the reports he printed out.

Roberto congratulated Betty for her report and presentation, and Daniel said that she should be the President (what a nasty way to get at Armando!).

Armando told the Board that Betty would be promoted to the position of the assistant to the President and Roberto agreed to this. He said that the next meeting will be held in September, right before Armando and Marcela’s wedding.

The Cartel filled Betty in on the latest developments and gave her the reports.

As the Board members were leaving the room, Roberto congratulated Betty on her new position which made Patricia furious.

Betty told Armando about the PC guy’s actions and the fact that the Cartel had to retrieve the documents from him. Betty and Armando went to see the PC guy and Betty told Armando that the guy had made copies of all her files. Armando pressured the PC guy into telling him why he was so interested in those files. He threatened him with dire consequences if he didn’t get the whole truth out, about who was behind the whole thing.

The PC guy admitted that Olarte told him to do it. Armando fired the PC guy on the spot and told Wilson to check him over to make sure he was not taking anything he shouldn’t be taking.

Episode 17 - The Cartel Fights for Her Own

The Cartel went for the PC guy, including Sandra who hit him! Armando told Mr. (co-conspirator) PC guy that he had 15 minutes to straighten things out, while the Cartel stood guard because they didn’t trust him. He gave Betty the report and the Cartel wanted to get the PC away from him because he started roaming through the computer to find out what secrets they’re guarding so closely.

Betty told Armando that everything will be ready for the report in 15 minutes, and he told her that she was the only one who could make the presentation to the Junta because she was the only one familiar with the information. He had to give her a pep talk to convince her, and she agreed. She also told him that she had to get her computer away from the PC guy.

Olarte asked PC guy to make for him copies of the reports from Betty’s computer.Armando told everyone that the report was ready and that the meeting would take place after all. Daniel was upset because he won’t have the chance to do the audit he planned to do.

The Cartel helped Betty put everything together for the meeting, and kind of fixed her up so she’ll look better at the meeting. They rev her up for her big moment with words of encouragement.

As Betty started her presentation, Marcela gave her one of those “if looks could kill” looks and kept staring at her to make her nervous. But Betty was cool as a cucumber and told everyone that Armando’s first two months at the helm of EcoModa had been successful and stable.

Sandra, who lost an earring during her fight with PC guy, went back to his office and noticed that he was hiding something and quickly reported her suspicious to the Cartel. Since they knew that Betty told him not to touch anything, they went back and tried to get the papers away from him.

Daniel reviewed Betty’s reports and asked her questions to try to trip her, which he fails miserably at because Betty is able to answer every one of his inquiries and came out of the inquisition smelling fresh as a rose.

Episode 16 - The Board Meeting cancelled

Meanwhile, the PC guy told Betty to cancel the meeting because he would not be able to get the PC fixed just then and asked her for her passwords. He tried to potray Betty as an incompetent secretary before the Board members by saying that the PC broke down because it was being misused, but Betty told him that this was impossible because she’s an experienced computer user.

Daniel scolded Betty for her failure to have back-up copies of the files and she was left looking like a fool in front of everyone. Daniel was about to leave, but Margarita asked him to stay for lunch.

Roberto told Armando to give up on trying to promote “the little ugly one” and to just let Patricia take care of the meeting. Armando said that he won’t promote Betty after all.

Betty was in her office and Armando arrived to get a video and again yelled at her. She started to cry and he asked her not to cry because she was making him feel bad (hello! Egocentric Man!!).

When the Cartel found out what happened to Betty, they went to her office and tried to cheer her up and she told them the whole story. Aura María called a friend who was a computer guru and had Betty talk to him. He told her that this was not a big problem and that he could get it fixed in an hour.

In the meantime, Roberto called a “confidence vote” on Armando’s behalf and said that the next board meeting will be held in two months.

Daniel said that he wanted to audit the company's books because they couldn’t let so much time pass without knowing how the company was running. Armando was opposed to this, but they told him that this was his fault for not having the report ready and he had no choice but to comply.

After lunch, the Board members went to Hugo’s to see the designs. The Cartel asked the PC guy to give them back Betty’s computer so that someone else who can actually fix it quickly could take a look at it. He refused, but Betty talked to Armando to let him know what was going on.

Episode 15 - The Let-Down

Patty arrived and made fun of Wilson, and Betty asked him how was it the he was not going to report Patty for arriving late.

Olarte and Patricia agreed to mess up Betty’s PC so that she won’t be able to make her report to the Board. To do this, they got her out of her office using some lame excuse and Patricia did the deed.

Armando talked to Hugo and Marcela to asked them to not mention the issue of the fabric being used for the new designs. Marcela talked to Armando about his relationship with Betty, saying that it is negatively affecting theirs because for him ugly Betty is perfect.

When Betty went back to her office and turned on her PC, she realized that she couldn’t access any of her files. Armando was all over Betty trying to get her to fix the problem and scolded her for not keeping backup diskettes with the information.

They called in the PC guy to fix the computer, but he said that he had to take it with him to look at it. Armando started one of his famous outbursts and yelled at Betty. She started yelling right back, telling him that he was making her nervous with all the yelling. He was taken aback by Betty’s reaction and told her to follow the PC guy and stay with him until the PC was fixed.

Everyone was gathered at the Board room and Armando told them that they couldn’t have the meeting because the report was in Betty’s damaged computer.

Olarte told Daniel that he took care of screwing up Betty’s computer (he called her “double ugly”). Daniel was not very happy about this and told Olarte that he doesn’t want his name associated with it.

Episode 14 - The Plot

Betty told Nico about having to doctor the report to the Board, and he told her that she was treading on dangerous ground and someone could find out what she was doing. She told him that all the information was password protected on her computer and that only a real computer genius could access the information.

As Betty was saying this, Olarte was in her office with EcoModa’s computer guy trying to access the password-protected files. The computer guy told Olarte that the files were inaccessible.

The ‘dreamer’, Patricia asked Mario to promote her to the post of his assistant and that he should also make their personal relationship known but Mario told her that this was not the appropriate time for either of her requests.

While Betty and Nico were still discussing, she told him that it seemed like Patricia and Mario were an item, and that if Nico aspired to anything with someone like Patricia, he was going to need a lot of money for her to notice him!

The next morning, Betty was running late and had another of her encounters with Wilson, who told her that he was going to report that she was late and get her in trouble. To which Betty, (way to go Betty!) told him that she was just going to go back home and that he can tell Armando where she was and that if he needed the report she prepared he could come to her house to get it.

When Wilson saw that his wicked plot had backfired, he begged her to stay because this could lead to Armando firing him, and even got down on his knees to beg her to stay.

Episode 13 - Marcela Jealous of Ugly Betty

Aura María asked Betty to give her glasses to Freddy so that he can fix them for her. Freddy started playing with the glasses. Armando arrived from the elevator and scolded Freddy for playing with the glasses, he warned him not to break them because those glasses were very important to EcoModa.

After work, Betty was waiting for bus to board home when Armando came out of the garage in his car and offered to give her a ride home. He told her that since she is his assistant, she needed to get a car, and she told him that with her salary she could not afford to get a car. He told her that from now on he was going to take her home every night.

He turned on the radio and the song just happened to be a favorite of both of them, which made Armando somewhat affectionate and he invited Betty to go listen to a jazz band at a favorite pub. He said that they’re always talking about work and he’d like to get to know her better.

Betty reminded him that she had to finish the report, but Armando said that they can go out, and then go to his apartment and finish the report together. He held her hand and told her that he was very happy to have her with him. Just at that moment someone yelled out Armando’s name, and it was one of the models who was leaving EcoModa – time to wake up from your daydream dear Betty! The model asked Armando for a ride. He started his car, which he stopped when he saw Betty and told her to remember to do the report.

When she got home she told her mother and Nico that Armando will name her his assistant at a meeting the next morning. Marcela complained to Margarita and Roberto about all the responsibilities that Armando was giving to ugly Betty.

Nico told Betty that she should be proud of all the responsibilities that Armando was entrusting her with when she was only a secretary. He also said she should also be proud that with all the women lusting after Armando, she was the one who was making Marcela nervous.

At that same time, Margarita was telling Marcela that she couldn’t believe that she was fighting with Armando over a girl as ugly as Betty, because she just couldn’t fathom that anything could be going on between them. Marcela laughed since of course Betty is so ugly, and Armando has much better taste in women than that.

Episode 12 - Ugly Betty, The Problem Solver

Patricial told Marcela that she went to bed with Mario and that she was sure he is going to marry her (oh yeah, dream on!).

When Betty got back from lunch, she found a “new” Armando, who treated her in a civilized manner and congratulated her for the business plan she put together.

Marcela and Patty are astonished to see Ugly Betty still there, and asked Armando what happened with to firing her. He told them that Betty took care of the business plan, and that she is pretty much running things in his office and shoed them out of the office because he had work to do with Betty.

Betty told Armando and Mario what was wrong with their proposal and that she can work out things to enable them to meet their goals. Armando asked Betty once again about the report that Patricia presented to the junta the day before. She responded that he would know if Patricia did it once he read Patricia’s business plan, which means that Patricia didn’t do it.

Armando told Mario that he figured that Marcela played a role in helping Patricia pass the report as hers, because there was no other way that it could have gotten into Patricia’s hands.

Mario asked Armando about what he planned to do, and Armando said that Betty is in charge now.

Daniel arrived at EcoModa and Olarte (V.P. Finance) told him that Armando’s business plan was not well presented and that this will cause it to fail. Daniel went into Betty’s office and found her asleep, she quickly woke up and apologized. He told her that he wanted to confirm an appointment for the next day.

Mario and Armando arrived and asked Betty for the report, to which she said that she was somewhat behind because she had had no sleep. Armando told her to go home and that they’ll get together on it first thing the next day.

Episode 11 - Betty, Fired and Re-Hired

Hermes got to EcoModa and asked to speak to Armando, but Betty quickly intercepted him and said that he was actually looking for her, and she was able to convince him to go home.

Marcela had another fight with Armando by complaining about his foul mood and Ugly Betty again, to which Armando answered that he’ll get rid of her (Ugly Betty) to make Marcela happy.

Aura María noticed that Betty was limping and called a 911 meeting of the Cartel so that they can tend to her leg.
Marcela and Patricia were pleased beyond words at the news that Betty will soon be history.

When Betty got back to her office, Armando fired her and told her to collect her things and go. She went into her office and started crying, but after collecting her things she stopped by to tell Armando why she was late. He again didn’t let her explain, and in a terribly rude way told her to get out.

Betty, however stood her ground and told him that she must explain the reason why she was late. She then handed the plan to him and Armando read the business plan and was overjoyed.

Mario came into Armando’s office to ask if He was ready to go to lunch and Armando said they were not going anywhere because they have to work on the business plan. Mario asked him where it came from and Armando told him that Betty put it together.

He then asked her to give him another copy and to just go ahead to lunch, after which she should come back to brief them about the plan. She told him that he had fired her, and he apologized and asked her to stay.

Betty then went out to lunch with the Cartel, but before leaving they witness a fight between Cashier and Sofía, who later told Betty how someone stole her husband at the supermarket! The Cartel asked Betty why Armando is in such a bad mood, and she told them about what happened with Patty — that she didn’t put the report together and was late on top of that.

Episode 10 - The Treatment

At EcoModa, we was Armando ranting and raving in full grouchy mood because Mario, Patty, AND Betty hadn’t arrived.

When Betty almost got to work, she fell, hurt her leg, and broke her eyeglasses (what a way to start a day!). When she finally got to Armando’s office, it was raining fire and brimestone as he yelled at her and asked her whether there was a death in the family, or she broke something, or her bus broke down, to which Betty responded "no sir”. Even though she tried to explain why she came late, he would not just listen to her.

He wanted to know where Patty and Mario were, and Betty further enraged him by asking if they were together, to which Armando said — 'what do I know, I’m not their mother!' He then told Betty to find them, and pleaded with her to do something for him. Betty grabbed Armando’s stress ball and gave it to him. He collected it and furiously bounced it on the floor saying, why are you giving this to me, I don’t need it !

(I don't know what went on in Armando's head!) He grabbed Betty by her hair and led her to her office as if she were a puppet, and when she tried to talk he told her not to, and to stop limping or was she making fun of him, he asked? When poor Betty went into her office, Armando did one of his “what a cross I have to bear”.

Betty called the cafeteria to ask for a super double cup of coffee, black, no sugar, and when they asked her if she was the cute blonde secretary, she says no, that she is the one in the cave, “It is I, ugly Betty .”

Hermes called Betty to ask her if she was able to finish the project that she and Nico were working on, and he heared Armando yelling at Betty, which bothered him to no end and he ran off to go confront Armando, because he was not going to let anyone treat his daughter that way.

Mario got to work and Armando read him the riot act, and he also tore into Patricia, especially after she told him that she didn’t do the business plan. Armando decided that he was going to have to put it together himself. Betty repeatedly tried to talk to Armando to give him the business plan she and Nico put together, but he won’t let her, and kept treating her like dirt — he was just plain impolite and mean.

Episode 9 - The Business Plan

In Betty's office, Armando asked her about who really did the report. Betty responded that he will know who did it once he read Patricia's business plan.

Armando and Mario realized that their business plan is totally wrong. Patricia told Marcela about her “problem” and admitted that she could not do what Armando has asked her to do and decided to take Mario up on his invitation to go out, so that she can get HIM to help her, so she invited him to her apartment.

Betty said good night to Patricia, like “good luck with your little project, honey,” since she knew that Patricia was way over her head with the plan. Betty got home and asked Nicolás to work with her to design a business plan because if she doesn't get it ready before the next morning, it was going to put her job on the line.

Julia asked Betty what was going on, and Betty ended up confessing that she actually was a secretary not an assistant. Julia asked her to tell her father the truth, but when he got home with one of his friends he had had a drink too many and told his friend how proud he was of his daughter and her new position, and Betty lost her nerve.

Armando and Marcela started talking about their wedding but Armando is adamant that it’s not going to be a church wedding. This is something that saddened Marcela to no end and they could not reach a decision.

Patricia wanted Mario to help her put together the business proposal, but he started kissing her and they ended up in bed. So, obviously no business plan was put together!

In the meantime, Betty and Nico were working on their business plan proposal. Nico asked Betty if she was doing this because she was worried about her job or because of Armando. She answered that it was for both reasons.

Betty and Nico stayed all night working on the business proposal, which made Betty late for work the next day.

Episode 8 - The Board Meeting

Daniel argued with Armando because he had two secretaries, and said that if Patricia can do such a good job with reports, plus display an “image,” then why have “the other one,” is it because she's pretty? They all made fun of Betty.

Betty went to eat lunch at The Corrientazo and the Cartel asked her to join them at their table since there was nowhere else to sit. Each of them introduced herself. Berta, living up to her sterling reputation, told Betty that she was replacing Mireya, Armando's old secretary. Betty asked why Mireya didn't just move positions to work for Armando when he became president. They explained that she resigned because she fell in love with Armando and decided to leave because she couldn't stand being in that situation anymore, and that Armando never realized Mireya’s feelings for him. They warn Betty not to fall for Armando, and she gave them a nervous answer saying how could they think something like that…

The Cartel brought Betty up to date about how Armando was able to become president, as well as about his sister Camila, who made the mistake of falling in love with a poor man and married him behind her parents’ back, which was the reason why she was somewhat distant from the family, and is in real touch with only Armando. She separated from her husband and moved to Switzerland with her son. They also briefed her about María Beatriz, Marcela and Daniel’s sister, and told her that she had had so many plastic surgery that she doesn't even remember what she used to look like.

Sofía told Betty that it was Marcela's vote that assured Armando the presidency, and they all said that Armando was paying a high price for that vote. They said that Marcela and Armando had been dating for over two years and that he cheats on her left, right and center, but Marcela always forgave him.

Sandra said that Marcela must be careful because one of these days some woman was going to come and take him away from her. Aura María said that both Mario and Armando only date beautiful women and that was why Armando stayed with Marcela. But Sandra is of the opinion that maybe that's not the woman he's really looking for, that he may want a different kind of woman, different from those he was used to.

At the end of the Board meeting, Daniel left. Mario told Armando that maybe Daniel was right and that Armando's plan was too risky.

The Cartel and Betty came back to work and ran into Daniel, Betty precisely, and he yelled at her.

Roberto told Armando that he and Margarita were going to Switzerland to visit his sister and nephew and will later settle down in London. Betty confronted Patricia about making the Board believe that she had prepared the report, and Marcela bumped in to say that, that one miserable report that Betty prepared isn't going to get her a promotion. That she's a secretary and that's all she will ever be.

Roberto discussed with Armando and advised on how to run the business. He told him to make sure that his pride and ego do not interfere with how he runs the company and not to do something for which he will be sorry. That he should make sure he doesn't get into any shady business.

Betty told her Mom over the phone that she wants to resign and told her about what Marcela and Patricia did with the report she laboured over.

The entire EcoModa staff said their good-byes to Roberto and Margarita.

Armando asked Betty and Patricia to come to his office, and since he was sure that Betty was the one who put the report together, he asked Patricia for the original reports, to which she responded that Betty had them.Mario congratulated Patty for doing such a good job and asked her out on a date to celebrate.

Armando asked for a business plan and asked who wanted to do it but Patricia jumped in to say that Betty can do it, but the ‘ugly one’, fought back and said since Patricia did so well with the first report to the Board, it was only right that she handled this one as well, so Armando told Patricia to do it and told her that it should be a piece of cake for her to put together this plan after what she pulled off in just one day.

Episode 7 - The Stand Up

Román and his friends stood Betty up. She hoped that they’ll still come for her, but her dad told her to go to bed because it’s very late and she needed to get some sleep. She started crying. Her dad tried to comfort her after he had scolded her. He promised that over the weekend the whole family was going to dine out and see a movie.

Hermes told Julia that they have to accept the fact that Betty was going to be a spinster. Betty started writing in her diary about Armando and remembered when he told her that she was the woman that he needed and especially his caress...

The next morning, Freddy asked for Betty’s forgiveness for the prank he played on her the day before and she obliged him.

Betty found a picture of Armando in his office and kept it with her.

Armando told Mario that he will marry Marcela, and told him about Marcela’s behaviour the night before.

Nicolás asked Julia about Betty’s outing with the neighborhood gang, but Julia told him that they stood her up. Nicolás was upset at the way they treated Betty and told Román to apologize to Betty. Román and his gang made fun of him and hit him.

Hermes also confronted Roman but could not condone what he did to his beloved daughter, so, he beat Roman up.

Betty suggested to Armando that he let her automate his schedule and address book and store it with passwords to prevent others from gaining access to it. Armando asked all the other executives for reports about their departments and that these reports be forwarded to Betty. He asked her to put the reports together in folders and include her business plan, and a copy of the past year’s numbers. Betty asked Aura María for a recommendation of a good place to have lunch. She told her to go to The Corrienzato.

Here we see the Cartel (the Ugly group) eating lunch at The Corrienzato but Betty sat all by herself. Inés asked the others to invite Betty to join them, but they said that even though they get called ugly, the new secretary was uglier and would further erode their standing.Julia called Betty at work to let her know that Nicolás and her dad had had a fight with Román.

Betty told her Mom that she was going to be late getting home because she had to prepare a report for the next day's Board of Director’s where Armando would officially become President.

Patricia overheard this conversation and told Marcela about it because she did want Betty to outshine her.Armando and Betty worked out how to handle his personal calendar to make sure that Marcela didn't have access to it.

The Cartel called a 911 meeting. Imagine the reason? Aura María was crying because one of her beaus broke up with her.

Betty worked until late to surprise Armando with the report, and was on her way out the door of her cave, when Armando and Marcela walked into his office and were getting very romantic when Betty opened the door to leave.

Betty wanted to make a good impression at the Board meeting the next day, and wanted to look extra nice (poor girl!).Her dad and Nicolás wanted to go the office with her, but she told them she wanted to go by herself. She ran into Román and his gang, who started mocking her, but she gave them a piece of her mind.

Everyone was ready to start the Board of Director’s and Betty was in a hurry to finalize the report, and in her haste, ran into Daniel. She told him that she is Armando's secretary and he wondered how she knew who he was. She told him that she had seen him in business and society magazines. His response was that Armando was wasting money hiring two secretaries.In the meantime, Don Roberto officially passed the baton to Armando during the Board meeting. He explained that if within a year, Armando was unable to meet the goals he had set for him, Daniel will become president. Daniel responded that he hoped that there will still be a business to run, since he was of the opinion that Armando's business plan will lead them to ruin.

Betty was on her way to deliver the reports, but Marcela told her to give them to her and go ahead to lunch, that Patty can deliver them. Betty overheared Patricia deliver the reports with the implication that she prepared them. Betty was furious when Roberto praised Patricia for such a good report.

Episode 6 - Computer Matched Betty to Armando

Mario made fun of the way Armando spoke to Betty, and told him to be careful of how he talks to the ugly one, because a caress like that may make her think he’s ready to marry her. Armando told him that there was no way Betty would think that.

In the meantime, we see Betty walking outside remembering Armando’s touch.

Marcela told Margarita (Armando's mother) about the fight she had with Armando and the older woman told her to calm down and act cool and collected especially in the presence of Ugly Betty, who, according her is the most insignificant of all the women that surrounded Armando.

Ugly Betty ran into Román and his gang on her way home. They invited her to go out with them and told her that if she was interested she should ask her father for permission. Poor girl!, they were only playing a cruel joke on her because they knew her father would never let her go out, more less with them.

Betty told Nicolás how her day went at EcoModa, and how Armando stood up for her.

She also told him about the invitation from Román. Nicolás had been worried that Patricia may have gotten fired because of the problem Betty had at the office, but Betty assured him that before Patricia could be fired, Armando would have been out the door already. She told Nicolás to wake up and smell the coffee, that women like Patricia are looking for a rich man who dresses well, has the looks of a movie star, at least two platinum cards, a BMW, the best clothes, memberships at the most exclusive clubs and so on. But poor Nicolás was love-stricken and oblivious to all this. He hoped that Betty will introduce him to Patricia ASAP.

Betty and Nicolás talked about their plight (being ugly) and that no one found them attractive. Nicolás asked Betty if she was planning on staying single all her life, but she said ‘no’, that she will cease to be a spinster in a few years!

Mario showed Armando a computer program he put together to help Armando know which of the many beautiful women around him was best matched to him.

Well, lo and behold, guess whose picture popped up?

UGLY BETTY’S ! Armando said what? He told Mario that he had so many beautiful women to pick from, why would he pick an ugly one? That Ugly Betty would be the last woman he'll marry.

Román called Betty to see if her dad gave her permission to go out. So, Betty asked her dad to let her go, but he refused. She ran to her room crying, complaining that she ‘can’t go out’, and ‘can’t get to know the world’. Her Mum Doña Julia tries to comfort her, and reminded her that Don Hermes had always been this way, making sure she went to a convent school, never letting her socialize much, with the exception of Nicolás, whom he feels is like a brother to Betty. She reminded Betty about how much she suffered when she fell in love with Juan Ramón, a classmate from the university. Julia interfered and was able to convince Hermes to let Betty go out.

A happy Betty called Román to tell him she’s waiting for them to go out.

Meanwhile, Armando got to Marcela’s apartment, and he found a rather “kinky” set up, with Marcela in a black teddie, ropes, special lighting, etc. She told him that he may be happy with his ugly secretary at work, but that at home, she is the woman for him. They reconciled for the umpteenth time.

Episode 5 - Marcela's Rivarly War

The old flame would not bulge; she refused to leave without seeing Armando. Betty had to go and see her at the reception to make sure she does not force her way to Armando’s office.

This telenovela scenario played out hilariously because when Marcela realized that Betty was in her office all the while and had overheard her argument with Armando, she became very upset.

Betty, yet to showcase her intelligence, quickly figured out a solution to this mess. She called Armando office and told him to come over to her office to sort out pending ‘personnel problems’.
When Armando showed up, she told him he had forgotten about an important appointment, this gave him the opportunity to sneak out to see Karina.

Betty also requested Mario’s help to ensure that when Marcela called Armando at the supposed ‘appointment’ he would be actually there!

Betty’s smartness actually saved the day. This was the first of some many other times that she would save Armando’s neck.

This was only her second day at work! And she is already caught up in the web of Armando’s lust machinations, having no option than to cover for him.

Patricia (the spy) saw Karina waiting around and immediately reported to back base - Marcela, who, boiling like a volcano about to erupt, stormed Betty’s office to demand for Armando’s address book from her.

Meanwhile, Dear telenovela lovers, Armando seized this opportunity to disappear to a restaurant with Karina.

Betty pleaded with Marcela to understand that she cannot disobey her boss’ instruction. This got Marcela was even angrier - that a ‘nobody’ had the power to deny her access to her fiancé’s personal effects.

Betty, however, stood her ground despite Marcela’s threat to have her fired.

The cowardly telenovela character, Armando, called Betty from the restaurant to know what was happening with Marcela. He obviously wanted to know how far the fire he started with Marcela was burning.

The smart Betty coded what was going on to him on phone while Marcela was in still in her office and she (the Miss high & mighty) didn’t decode the message.

While Armando was arguing with Karina at the restaurant, Marcela called his cell phone but he turned it off. He later called Marcela when he got to his supposed 'appointment' venue and they continued the argument on phone.

Marcela then called in Gutierrez to fire Betty because of her alleged insubordination to Marcela! (can you imagine that!) Marcela did this so that her spy (Patricia) can have access to Armando’s books and she will in turn be able to look through them before he got back.

Armando got back just in time to thwart Marcela’s plan. He also re-affirmed to Marcela, the instruction he gave Betty not to let anyone access his books including her.

Armando reprimanded Gutiérrez for firing Betty over Marcela's mischevious allegations.

Betty was preparing to leave in order to avoid getting in more problems with Marcela but Armando request that she stayed. He caressed her chin and told her that he needed her, and that because she had been able to achieve in two days what he anticipated she would achieve in two months. He also told her then that her status as a temporary employee was over.

Episode 4 - Ugly Betty on Catwalk

She asked Armando in a bid to make sure that she got him the right item but he yelled at her that it was the right item. Then, Mario rudely told her to move away from them (they didn't want to be seen with an ugly woman).

She then joins the ‘Cartel’ at the back to watch the show in their company. She was very thrilled about this new world she is learning about.As soon as the fashion show was over, Hugo stormed up to Armando to protest about Betty’s behaviour at the show and to demanded that Betty never steps into his office ever again.

Armando’s fiancée, Marcela deliberate decided to dine out with her friend, Patricia, rather than attend the show having satisfied herself that none of her model rivals were part of the show.

At Armando’s office, Betty apologized profusely for her behaviour explaining her naivety to the fact that the beauty world was still new to her.He rudely dismissed her when she told him that she had his briefcase and jacket ready for him to go home. And as she leaves for her office he muttered to himself “My God, what a cross to bear”.

Daniel arrived and was looking for his sister, Marcela. He had, by appearing at that moment, succeeded in upsetting Armando and Mario’s plan of hitting the town with the models. He actually met Armando in the company of a model and because Armando wanted to let the sleeping dog lie (Marcela), he headed straight home.

Our dear Betty left the building in the company of the Cartel but headed home alone.

Meanwhile, Armando was telling Mario at that same moment that, after the embarrassment at the show, he was not sure he did the right by hiring Betty and he is of the opinion that she will not last long in the employment if Ecomoda.

Betty got into trouble the very next day with Freddy who fooled her into believing he was an Executive of Ecomoda. He even had the nerve to yell at her.

It was not until Armando arrived that Betty realized that Freddy was playing a wicked joke on her and that he was only an office messenger dressed like an Executive.

Armando told Betty that he was going to entrust his personal address book and calendar to her. He specifically warned Betty not to allow any one access to it no matter the circumstance – not even Marcela, his fiancée. (This was because it contained telephone numbers of ladies whom he had dated before.)

Betty was in her office when she overheard Marcela and Armando arguing. Marcela was upset because Armando still kept his old flames and that he was giving Betty way too much power and access to his personal documents.

While this was going on, one of the old flames, Karina Larson came by looking for Armando. Betty called Armando on the phone to tell him but he told her to make her go away and to ensure that she does not go anywhere near Marcela.

Episode 3 - The Fashion Show

On Betty’s first day at work - she paused in front of the building, took off her glasses, and cleaned her eyes. It still seems like a dream to her that she got this job!

The security man (Wilson) did not allow her in until he had confirmed through a phone call that she was indeed Armando’s new secretary, this is because he knew Armando only goes for pretty ladies.It was more surprising to Marcela and her friend, Patricia, when they arrived and discovered that Armando had hired the Ugly one.

The Boss (Armando) arrived and showed Patricia to her desk at the reception and took Betty to a dark, dusty, musky store (called The Cave by EcoModa staff), which he said will be her new office.Just then the cleaning lady screamed “spider, there is a spider in there”, and Armando told her off by saying “well? kill it”.He apologized to Betty and explained that it was a store where his father’s kept old company files and that it will be ready in a jiffy. He showed her the computer, desk, chair, and other office items he got for her. Also, there were two telephone lines including his private line.He then instructed Betty to see Gutierrez to sign her contract documents.On her way to Gutierrez’s office she met and said hello to Roberto (Armando’s Father) and Margarita (Armando’s Mother).

Roberto was not happy with the way Armando treated Betty by putting her in dusty, musky store as her office because he knew there was a better office close to Armando's that she could use.

When the Ugly women group members, Sofia and Berta saw Betty’s photograph, they could not believe that the Boss hired someone like her and Berta said “welcome to the Ugly women camp”.Armando later called Betty and Patricia to outline their duties and responsibilities to them.

Betty is to handle his entire portfolio, his calls, do the banking and handle clients as it relates to her office while Patricia is to handle official calls at the reception and make coffee when needed.

Patricia was infuriated and told Armando that she should be his assistant since Betty is his secretary. But Armando told her point blank that if he should need an assistant it would be Betty because she is over-qualified for the jobPatricia was very upset by this and took it out on Mario as he tried flirting with her.Mario was impressed with Armando for hiring Patricia and Armando added that he hired Betty as well.

Mario mischievously peeped into Betty office and responded with “how ugly” to Betty’s greeting. He and Armando looked at each other and laughed.

Patricia wasted no time in complaining to Marcela about Armando's decision to place Betty above her. Marcela was not happy with this knowing that Betty would be handling Armando’s personal Agenda (her plan had failed by this). She promised Patricia that she would set things straight and that Betty would not be at EcoModa for long.Meanwhile, Betty was alone in Armando’s office, she picked up his jacket and sais “so divine.” Guess what she meant by that? Well we’ll find out later.

On the same day that Betty resumed at her new job, a fashion show for buyers and distributors was taking place in EcoModa's show room. The Cartel (Ugly Women Group) sneaked in to watch the show from the extreme end of the room.

Armando and Mario went to Hugo’s office to flirt with the models while he asked Betty to get him his wallet from his office. When she came into Hugo's office to give Armando his wallet, she was shocked at seeing models, especially the guys in their underwear, she then volunteers to get Armando a colour chart.

Just as the show was about to begin, naive Betty came on the catwalk looking for Armando and calling out his name. It was an understatement to say that Armando was embarrassed. He answered her “here I’m” through gritted teeth, his temper rising to boiling point.

And, poor, poor Betty fell off the catwalk. She was helped to her feet by two men. She apologizes and handed the chart to Armando (all this happened while the show was still going on).

Episode 2 - Dreams Come True

I'm back to delight your hearts with the updates of this hilarious & romantic Telenovela.

From where I stopped on my last post, enjoy..

Julia showed Betty and Nicolás a copy of the Jet Set magazine. In it was an article about EcoModa. Betty read it aloud, explaining that the article was about Roberto’s last collection as President of EcoModa. We see pictures from the lanzamiento party and were introduced to each of the key players at EcoModa — Roberto, Margarita, Armando, Daniel (who for a change were having AN ARGUMENT!), Marcela, Patricia, Mario, Hugo... Daniel was very upset that Marcela voted to make Armando President, and that it was obvious that Armando proposed marriage to buy her vote.

Patty pleaded with Marcela to help her get a job because she was so broke and that the next time Marcel would see her would be probably in jail, where she knows Marcela won’t come to visit her. She complained that she does not want to be a secretary, to which Marcela answered that, that was the only job available and assured her that she’ll make more money. She also told her that she needed her there to keep Armando in line.

During the lanzamiento party, again setting the tone for the rest of this telenovela, Marcela and Armando argued about their wedding date. He finally gave in and announced publicly that they would be married in September. We see Margarita crying for joy; Hugo is thrilled for "Marge," as is Patty, while Mario looked with shock as if his best friend had been condemned to die a slow death by torture. Daniel looked unhappy to say the least. Nicolás had already noticed Patricia and is “in love.”

As they were still talking and looking at the magazine, Betty got a call asking her to come back to EcoModa the next morning at 9:00 a.m. to meet with Armando.

Armando told Marcela that he does not want to be stuck with Patricia as his secretary, especially since he knew she is would be spying on him. Marcela argued that she’s the right and most qualified person for the job. He told her that there is someone truly qualified whom he had asked back for another interview.

Just then, Roberto’s secretary opened the door and showed Betty in. Marcela and Armando saw her and were taken back by her looks.Roberto arrived and ignored Betty when she extended her hand to shake his.

Betty told them about her educational and professional backgrounds, and Marcela, Armando, and Roberto could not help but be impressed. Armando asked Betty if she was sure, with her qualifications, that she wanted to be a secretary. Betty said yes, that she wanted to learn about how to run a fashion business and to work with people such as them.

They asked her to wait outside, and Marcela tried persuading Armando that there’s no way Betty could be Armando’s secretary because she was too ugly and could not be allowed to work in a fashion house. She stated that Patty was THE BEST choice because she’s beautiful.

Marcela asked Betty and Patty to come in and placed them side-by-side like in a cattle call, so Armando and Roberto could make their choice. Afterwards, Armando scolded Marcela for how he treated “that young woman.” Marcela and Patricia proceeded to make fun of Betty. Because of Marcela’s manipulation, Armando had to hire Patricia but he also decided to hire Betty. When he told her to go sign her paperwork and start work first thing the next morning, Betty was beyond excited.

Roberto formally transferred power and full authority to Armando.

Betty came home and broke the great news to her parents but lied that she was hired to be an assistant to the President, rather than her real position of a secretary.

Mario scolded Armando for announcing his engagement and wedding to Marcela in public, and begged him to change his mind. Armando told Mario that he had a fight with Marcela because he hired a secretary that she did not agree with.

Mario assumed that Armando had hired a “90, 60, 90,” empty head, to which Armando said no. He’s hired an ugly woman, with a horrid hairdo, weird voice, braces, but who has more brains than the two of them put together. Mario told Armando that he was going to fry in hell for hiring an ugly woman, to which Armando responds (sounding like a little kid), "I can’t hear you, I’m made of wood, and I have fish ears. "

Betty told Nicolás about how Armando stood up for her in front of Marcela. At that same time Mario made fun of Armando for standing up for Betty.

Episode 1 - The Interview

In this Telenovela, the first few scenes we see are of Betty.

We see the reaction of the world to her but we don’t see her.

On her arrival at EcoModa for her job interview, she met Wilson, who after explaining to him that she has a job interview, showed her in. The next person she met was Aura María who told her to go on up to Presidency. There, she ran into Patricia, and this telenovela character looked at her with an “I can’t believe THIS” look.

She mistakenly went to Hugo’s lair, where he pretty much told her to get out and never come back. She tried to explain that she’s looking for the Presidency and he told her where it was. Later Berta called for Patricia Fernández and Beatriz Pinzón, to meet with Gutiérrez and another executive.

He interviewed them at the same time asking them the same questions since they were both interviewing to be the President’s secretary. Patricia explained that though she had no experience as a secretary, she did finish “six semesters in Finance at San Marino University.”

Betty also explained that she does not have any experience as a secretary, but that she did graduate from university with high honors and has undergraduate and graduate degrees in finance and economics, and also worked as an assistant at Banco de Montreal.

Gutiérrez asked them about their foreign language skills and Patricia said that she knows a bit of English besides Spanish. Betty answered that she speaks English and French fluently, and a bit of Italian. In addition she listed other things she could do and knew about, which impressed everyone.Gutierrez then asked them about their marital status. Patricia explains that she was separated from Mauricio Briggman (and Gutiérrez of course said that he knew him!).

Beatriz answered that she was still single, to which Gutiérrez said, but of course. Gutiérrez asked Betty why she didn’t include her photograph with her résumé. Betty explained that she’s been to so many interviews that she ran out of photos. Gutiérrez told them that he will get in touch with any news, but as they were leaving the office, he offered the job to Patricia right in front of Betty.

Betty literally ran into Berta, who was carrying a trashcan that flew out of her hands. At that moment, Armando and Roberto exited the elevator, and Berta begged Betty to help her pick up the mess, because she did not want the bosses to see it. Armando noticed the trash and started scolding Berta. He did not even notice Betty, who looked at him in total shock because of the way he was yelling.

Gutiérrez told Armando that he had found him a secretary, and showed him Patty’s paperwork. Armando got mad at him and asked him how he was ever going to get Hugo to understand him, that he did not ask him to hire Sharon Stone, but someone efficient who spoke two languages.Armando was especially upset because Patricia was Marcela’s best friend. He asked Gutierrez if he did not pre-select any other candidate and asked him to get him the other résumés for him to peruse.

Betty got home and her mother asked her how the interview went. She said it was okay and just then Nicolás came in. She told him that she went to a fashion house to interview for a job as a secretary, but that she did not dare apply for assistant or executive positions because of her looks. She told them how they practically hired “a pretty one” in front of her even though she was not qualified and she (Betty) was over-qualified. She reminded them that people were always impressed by her résumé, but when they see her she never gets hired.

Meanwhile, we see Armando, Roberto, and Gutiérrez walking around EcoModa’s production area (Armando was holding his famous “stress ball”), talking about the various applicants. When Armando and Roberto saw Betty’s resume, they are duly impressed and ask Gutiérrez why he did not hire her on the spot. He answered that she had a problem — she is very ugly.

They called Betty’s former employer at Banco Montreal, to ask about her work there. He give her a glowing recommendation, saying that she’s an exceptional woman, that she’s got all the educational qualifications and can work circles around anyone. Roberto told Armando that it was his choice to make; either hire a pretty woman or a qualified one.

This is the story of Beatriz Pinzón Solano, a brilliant economist with a master’s degree in finances, but she has one flaw: she is ugly.

Her only boyfriend abandoned her after a few days' romance. She learned the hard way that love was not for her and that she would be a spinster all her life.

So, while her neighbors danced at discos and experimented with love, Betty dedicated all her time and efforts to her studies and instead prepared herself for a bright professional future. This pleased Hermes, Betty’s father, a very demanding and over protective man.

Everything changes when she starts to work at Ecomoda, one of the largest fashion enterprises in the country. There she meets and falls in love with Armando Mendoza.

Being overly desperate to get a job after many failures, she agrees to work as his secretary, a position well under her intellectual abilities. She knows that her looks do not help her, and for this reason she decides to start from the bottom and work her way up to an executive position, which she deserves.

Betty really starts low at Ecomoda! She is stashed away in an old attic, while a beautiful woman sits at the reception area of the company’s CEO office. That’s her luck for being hideous looking.

Betty accepts this all, just to be there. She makes this dark closet her office and her place to dream. She is happy with this situation since it allows her to be near her boss, Armando Mendoza, a handsome executive who has inherited the company’s presidency from his father. She has to see him on a daily basis, tending to his every need, pining for him; while Armando is not aware she exists as a woman. To him, she is only a human being who provides him with brilliant ideas and covers up his clandestine dates from his fiancée, Marcela Valencia, a sophisticated fashion designer who despises Betty.

Betty never had any friends, since none of her neighbors or classmates wanted to be associated with someone as ugly as her. Yet in Ecomoda she identifies with other women who are ostracized because of their bad looks.

Hugo Lombardi, top designer at Ecomooda, has categorized them as belonging to the “Ugly Women’s Barrack”, and never allows them to come near his working area. From their Barrack, Betty and her friends watch the world of the glamorous, delight themselves by gossiping about the models that work there, and give each other support in their problems.

Betty thinks she is the most unfortunate one of the group. The other women of the Barrack are either married, divorced, single mothers, or engaged, but she has never had the chance to experience love.

Pretty soon things start to change for Betty. Armando involves the company in financial problems. Betty is always there to help him get out of trouble time after time, but Ecomoda is constantly exposed to the dangers of his rash business moves. They both work side by side long hours every day.

One evening Armando ends up madly and passionately kissing Betty. This is the most beautiful kiss Betty has ever known, a kiss which sends her flying and start dreaming and hoping for love. Yet, it is also the most infernal kiss of her life, since she knows that is was not meant with love, but instead it was all part of a business strategy that her boss played with the ugly girls at work, sacrificing himself by kissing her. It is also this kiss which changes her life, for she will never be the same. The new Betty will have an amazing body together with a complete soul transformation which will teach her boss that that girl which he kissed drunk one evening with eyes wide shut, is now a woman worthy of any man's love.

President of Ecomoda, a man who admires the beauty. He is handsome and a successful man and uses this to conquer many beautiful women. He is engaged to marry Marcela Valencia, a beautiful, sexy and very jealous lady from the same social class.

Natalia Ramírez - Marcela Valencia
Armando's fiancee. A Beautiful and sexy woman but very jealous. She also works with Ecomoda. Patricia is her good friend.

Lorna Paz - Patricia Fernández
Armando's secretary. Beautiful but with a bad attitude. Always dreams of living in luxuries but is broke and divorced. Marcela's good friend, always spying on Armando and slandering the "ugly women group". She is nasty to any one who she considers not of the same social class because she was once married to a rich man who after divorcing her left in a terrible financial state. Her quest is to find a millionaire husband but she falls in love with Nicolas Moorish because she thought he was rich man.

María Eugenia Arboleda - Mariana
Marcela's secretary. A sincere and nice person whose greatest ambition is to one day become a model. She dates only men who she thinks can be of help to her in achieveing her dream. She is an expert card reader and one of the "ugly women group".

Ricardo Vélez as Mario Calderón
Armando's best friend. A Cassanova to the core. Passion comes before feelings in his dictionary. He uses is attractive looks and elegance style to entrap women and even his colleagues (Patricia and Aura Maria).

Luis Mesa as Daniel Valencia
Marcela's brother. He desperately covets the Ecomoda's presidency and hates Armando as a result of this. He is always conniving to get the president's seat and take interest in things that could benefit him.

Stefanía Gómez as Aura María Fuentes
She is the pretty receptionist. Widowed with a son and lives with her parents. She is a woman who believes in enjoying her self by living life to the fullest and making new friends. Sadly, no man takes her seriously. A member of the "ugly women group".

Luces Velásquez as Bertha de González
A happily married woman whose life revolves around her husband. Always worried about her figure and she tries to diet but cannot resist food. One of the "ugly women group".

Alberto León Jaramillo as Saúl Gutiérrez
He is the Human Resources Officer at Ecomoda. Married but engages in extra-marital affairs though he is afraid with his wife.

Julián Arango as Hugo Lombardi
The Fashion designer in Ecomoda. He is a competent professional and is not afriad of critics. Consider himself gay and proud it. He is friends with Marcela and Patricia.

Júlio César Herrera as Freddy Stewart Contreras
He loves to dress like the executives though is the Office Boy at Ecomoda. He works with Armando. A polite and humourous guy who respects women. He eventually falls in love with Aura Maria.

Kepa Amuchastegui as Roberto Mendoza
Armando's father, the founder of Ecomoda. He is a very kind person and loved by all his workers.

Celmira Luzardo (II) - Catalina Angel
Armando's sister and Ecomoda's PRO. She has a great charisma and elegance. Dedicated her life with her job after separation from her husband. She is the one person that single handedly changed Ugly Betty's life.

Paula Peña - Sofía
Gutierrez's secretary. Her husband left her for a younger woman (Jenny) but she still loves him. She lets all hell lose if he fails to deposit the monthly up-keep for their 2 children into her bank account on time. A meber of the "ugly women group".

Pilar Uribe - María Beatriz Valencia
Daniel's and Marcela's sister. Goes by the name of Beatriz. She is a vain woman who spend almost all her life having every kind of plastic surgery. All she cares about are clothes and makeup.

Dora Cadavid - Inesita de Gómez
Hugo's assistant, who are worked for the company for years. A few years ago her husband walked out and never returned. Full of experiences and always advises the "ugly women group" never create problems to Betty. She is honest and faithful.

David Ramírez (II) - Wilson 'Security Guard'
Ecomoda's security guard. A nice and simple man. Friendly with Freddy and the "ugly women group".

Mario Duarte - Nicolas Mora
Betty's neighbourhood and her good friend who is always protective of her. A Bookworm, innocent but intelligent man but is naive about love and sexuality. Fell in love with Patrician Fernandez at first sight.

Betty's father. A very conservative and caring man. Always proud with his daughter. He trust his daughter, Betty to improve his the quality of his life.
